Brownie points for saying that UAE is not only about Abu Dhabi and Dubai. There are lots of hidden gems in other Emirates. Sharjah is the cultural capital of UAE. If you want anything authentic Emirati, Sharjah is the place to visit. Excellent beaches - RAK and Fujairah. Ajman for excellent nightlife. Umm Al Quwain, if you are feeling adventurous! Also, all visas are now two years, instead of three. In addition, a resident can now sponsor his/her male child for up to 25 years and not 18 years as it was the case previously. A male or female resident can sponsor his/her son/s until he is 25. Sons of determination (those with special needs) can be sponsored with no restrictions with regard to his/ their age/s. For babies born in the UAE, a residence visa must be applied for, within 120 days of its birth to avoid getting fines.

I wish you could have talked a bit more about the Emirati demographics in particular as Emirati's are not a monolith as there are not only Bedouin Emiratis but Emiratis who have Yemeni, Balochi, Omani and background from different areas of Iran as well. Something I did not know about UAQ is that it's a place for hiking (anyone who's gone hiking in UAQ let me know!) I'd like to point that as Sharjah is practically capital of culture in the UAE, they are known for so many events to do with the Arts like the Sharjah Biennial and the annual Sharjah Light Festival as well as the Sharjah Bookfair.

This is very true. I am Arab. The country I come from doesn't matter; as almost every Arab country has a sh!t reputation in the media. Barbs' video popped into my recommendation, and I decided to watch. I expected the classic "talking with hidden, yet obvious resentment" that people hold against my country, and for the most part, I get it. However, most often than not their resentment leads the topic, and it ends up being a fest of misinformation. I was surprised watching his video, because he talked from such a neutral point of view, and he did not spread any misinformation. He was respectful, well researched, and it was a pleasant video to watch. He did not sugar coat anything, he just... narrated it as it is. We need more people like him in the world! let alone, in geography videos :) He is a great dude.

8 years... it's been 8 years of me watching GN, starting with Afghanistan itself. It's incredibly somber getting so close to the end. While watching this series I've moved to a new city, begun, and finished college, worked 4 different jobs, moved 4 times, traveled to 15 different countries, met the love of my life and carried on the longest relationship of my life at 4 years and ongoing, got a cat, rubbed that cat's belly approximately 10 billion times and counting, become a new person, eaten approximately10 gajillion bowls of ramen, etc.. I'll be a fan of this channel till the very end, but this series has been a constant during probably the most monumental years of my life thus far. Thank you Barbs and the rest of the GN family for the 8 years of dedicated hard work and consistent quality. We'll see you at the finish line.

I am glad you talked about the Sheikh-Emir-King thing, which always confused me. here is some Arabic Language and history lesson Emir = Prince therefore; Emirate = Principality, a land ruled by a prince, similar system exists in europe. (Sheikh) could mean one of two things in classical Arabic: 1- Elder, senior citizen, a man who is old, not a woman tho. 2- a Priest for Muslims. in early Arab history, the head/chief of each tribe would be called a king, but when Islam became the dominant religion it denied people from that title, as even the leader of the whole empire would call himself (Successor of the prophet) and derive his authority from religion, so the tribes did something similar to their titles and gave their leaders a religious title that is less than that of the ruler of the empire, so they landed on Sheikh/priest, even if the leader was not really suitable to be called a priest, it was just a formality.... then in modern history (1900's) the leaders of neighbouring countries picked other titles: 1- Emir/Price for Qatar. 2- Malek/King for Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, and the previous monarch of Iraq. 3- Sultan/Emperor for Oman, similar to the title of the leader of Ottoman empire/Sultanate. 4- technically the leader of Syria is a king, since he inherited the power from his father (the previous ruler of the country) and they both would rule for life, but his official title is president/Ra'ees.

@@mpendakiswahili3053 no not different languages, maybe some tiny differences in dialects, but nothing more. There are a couple of exceptions though. Al Bloushi tribe have their own language (bloushi) but it is very sparsely spoken these days and quite rare to hear. The individuals who speak it are the members of tribe who live away from cities, on the more mountainous/desert areas. So to answer your question, the tribes are basically huge groups of families that make up the local population of the UAE. Some tribes are more common in certain cities/emirates than others, and some tribes even have a strong influence in the government (al nahayan, al maktoum, al nuaimi, etc…) but at the end of the day we are all emiratis and we don’t view one tribe being more superior than the other at all.

To be completely honest, we cannot thank Barbs enough for making geography such an enjoyable subject for us. Their passion and enthusiasm for the subject were infectious, and it made us look forward to every class. They went above and beyond to create engaging lesson plans and incorporate real-world examples to help us understand and appreciate the importance of geography in our daily lives. we feel fortunate to have had such an amazing teacher like Barbs, and we will always remember the positive impact they had on our education and love for geography.

Can’t wait for the uk episode as it is my home country! As so, I would like to give some little facts: London it’s self, has 170 museums. Standing at 1,107 feet, the shard is the tallest building in Europe. The London Underground is the oldest underground train system in the world. The British navy used Britney spears’ songs to scare off Somali pirates off the coast of Africa. In Britain accents noticeably change every 25 miles (40km). All horses donkeys and ponies must have a horse passport. In England it is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament. In 1811, nearly a quarter of all women where named Mary in Britain. And last but not least, the National animal of Scotland is the unicorn.

I've only been to Abu Dhabi airport, so I know next to nothing about the country. But I feel like you over pronounced a lot of the names and some places like "Khor Fakkan" you pronounced at "Khor Kattan". Here are some corrections I could point out from the video. Omar Al Borkan is not Emirati but Iraqi. Redfest has not been a thing since 2020. Two artists are shown twice on the list of Emirati artists, Hamdan Al Abri & Abri are the same artist (Abri is not even a band just a rebrand of the artist), same goes to Eidah Al Menhali and Eidah (same artist). Rashed Al Majed is not an Emirati artist but Saudi Arabian. ( You could've put Fayez Al Saeed instead).
