***** Cyprus belongs to Cyprus, because it's inhabited by Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Constantinople/Istanbul should stay where it is. If it was given back to Greece, then all the cities that had been conquered in the past (they are *a lot*) should be given back to where they originally belonged, which is pointless. That's not how history works :)

9:55 I'm from Mexico and it's true, lot's of my fellow citizens think very badly about guatemalans. In fact, a large part of the mexican population discriminates every central american citizen for no good reason, but hate it when the USA discriminate us. I think that's sad, Guatemala is one of my favourite places on Earth, there are some mexicans like me that appreciate a lot Guatemala and the rest of Central America. We love you! :D

Marco Garrido very true! It's hypocritical how some Mexicans treat Central Americans and it's worse than the US against Mexico because we are practically related. We are very similar to each other in so many ways.

One of the main reasons Mexicans despise of Guatemalans in a general sense, is that while Mexicans feel they got robbed of their northern territory by the Americans, Mexicans feel they got betrayed of their southern territory by Guatemalans. Punishable by a lifetime of scorn.

Today, people in India speak different languages and we have tried to preserve our cultures even after independence from Englishmen . I am extremely fascinated about the mayans, and would love to learn a mayan language someday. Lots of love to Guatemala 😊.

Also you should have added Luis Von Ahn to the list of famous Guatemalans! He is the creator of Captcha and the founder of Duolingo. Still you got 99% of the important stuff and you even name-dropped Quetzalteca so I'm really impressed!

Teddy Roosevelt im Guatemalan and Actually is a radical minority of Beilzeans who hate Guatemalans, and a radical minority of Guatemalans who hate Belizeans, the rest of us dont care of those claims of land in belize, they have been of belize more time that guatemalan, and theres no guatemalans there so the claims dont make sense any more, and guatemalans and belizeans treat each other respectfully, but i understand the confusion, because obviously the news dont show guatemalans and belizeans being friends becuas that isnt interesting for them, and they prefer to make us be seen all as warmongers who want to opress a civilization, when that is the most far from the truth

JJ Alvarafo: "Well, it wasn't complete, but the information he gave wasn't misleading as well. And very respectful too." That's all Barby wants to do. And he doesn't want to disrespect ANY nationality; note he tries to be as respectful to Mexicans and Belizeans and he does to Guatemalans in this episode. That last part will make the Israel episode a real challenge.

0:27 The first confusion that I found in this video is that the name of the country DOES NOT come from such a thing "Mayan-Nahuatl". The reason why I say this is because Mayan and Nahuatl are completely different, here are the facts: The name of Guatemala COMES from Nahuatl which a language spoken by the Aztec, and the word is "Quauhtlemallan" which means "place of many trees". It happened after the Spanish conquested the Aztec, they brought with them Aztec soldiers to help them conquest the place known today as Guatemala. Since the Spanish had no idea how this place was called, they relied on what the soldiers speaking Nahuatl said and that's where the name of Guatemala comes from. In the other hand, the remaining "Mayan" have a name for thier own cities in each one of their language since they were divided by STATES which at the same time have their own goverment. Now, the host talks about many places having the end of "TENANGO", that also is Nahuatl. Please make sure you have the right facts and info to share. From someone who is a Mayan, who speaks Mayan Q'eqchi' and who works on research about history and mayan language development.

Guatemalan hot chocolate tablets are the BEST. They're these hard discs of cocoa powder, spices, and sugar that you break into chunks and dissolve it in water. It also makes a great candy, if you don't mind it having a gritty texture. Their coffee is also awesome, my mom bought a necklace and matching earrings made from real coffee beans at a plantation near Antigua. You can smell them from a foot away and it smells AMAZING.
