If my maths is correct, he has done 46 countries so far, having started with Afghanistan 551 days ago. This would mean the rate of release is 0.07622504537 countries per day, or 1 country every 13.119047619 days. There are 196 total countries, and 150 countries left to do. At the current rate of release, he will be finished in 1967.85714285 days, which is equal to 5.391781 years. Thus, this this series will be finished (assuming no new countries form before the end) on Friday, 10 September 2021.

Great math! Of course, like you said, if no new countries pop up before then. Also, that is just the average times between the uploads, and he could get faster or slower with the uploads. I don't know. It's cool how you did all the math, though, and with an exact ending date, too!

Likewise. Sometimes fellow commuters on the bus or co-workers ask me why is geography still relevant? With GPS, the internet and Google Earth, why learn it? I ask them "Can you locate and identify so-and-so-country on a map with out web searching? Or at the very least what continent it is on?" Half can do both; the other half can not. I would've never learnt about these often ignored countries in Subsaharan Africa with such fascinating back stories if it wasn't for you, Barby. I'll admit, aside from a few like Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa, I do fall into the trap of thinking of all of Subsaharan Africa as this rolling jungle or Savannah full of mud huts, civil war, lions and Ebola. I'm glad you're helping me change and seeing this diverse continent for what it is

I have a very clear image of North Africa and the diversity of Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and such, and so do a lot of people because North Africa has always been closer to Europe than Subsaharan Africa. That asian chick with the bazooka you flicked up whilst mentioning the Vietnam War was actually Fusako Shigenobu, founder and leader of the Japanese Red Army. She's actually still alive, and is quite a character with a rather storied biography - but not really related to the Vietnam War, save for being a communist (she was in the middle east at the time, and for 30 years thereafter).

This part is missing in your dissertation French Equatorial Africa (French: Afrique équatoriale française), or the AEF, was the federation of French colonial possessions in Central Africa, extending northwards from the Congo River to the Sahara, and comprising what are today the countries of Chad, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, the Republic of the Congo, and Gabon with brazzaville as capital

Wow! It's a weird feeling to see my birth country finally being featured! You're so knowledgeable! Although, I'd say there are a few inaccuracies here and there. The main one that, as of late, Congo Kinshasa is far from being our best friend. We've had a love/hate relationship for as far as I can remember. And things went a little sour a couple years ago, when Congo Brazzaville had a massive operation to expulse illegals immigrants from the other Congo (after giving them a period of time where they could leave voluntarily), the are/were a lot of them in Congo. Most of which trying to make a decent living, but a lot also involved in all sorts of illegal traffics. And I guess our government, too lazy to just hunt the bad apples down; and also as a way to distract the population from their incompetence with other issues opted for that instead. But all in all, both countries are on pretty decent terms, just not "best friends" level lol.

Actually, what's interesting is that most of the terrirory of the Kingdom of the Kongo, including its capital, Mbanza-Kongo, was located inside the borders of modern day Angola, and in the 1860, the King of Kongo turned into a vassal of the Portuguese king, but then the Portuguese monarchy colapsed, got subsituted by a Republic and then because of the revolt by the Kingdom of the Kongo, it was abolished by the Portuguese Republic in around 1912, and directly anexed to the rest of Angola. Today, Mbanza Kongo still stands, but its much smaller the todays capital of Angola, Luanda.

Since then I can name most countries but struggle to remember the details. This channel has revived my lost love for geography and has taught me more than I've ever imagined I could. Thank you Paul, keep up the great work! Very pleased with the direction of this channel, you've outdone yourself!
