I'm Cape Verdean and I must say, great job! There are some little mistakes but, in general, you nailed it! For instance, Cape Verde does not have only 3 volcanoes. The islands are of volcanic origin, therefore, almost every mountain is a volcano. Extinct ones but still volcanoes. Those figures in "ethnicity" were data used by the Portuguese in the colonial period. They are not accurate and since the independence there hasn't been any statistics about races. I mean, come on! In a country like Cape Verde how can you know exactly if a person is black, white or mestiço? The Guinea-Bissau Creole is indeed similar to Cape Verdean Creole (kinda Portuguese and Spanish are similiar). The culture... mmm... no that much. But Cape Verde was in fact the principal country to help Guinea-Bissau in the political turmoil in the 90's. Once again, congrats!

Xandu di Canda Wrong, the ethnic/racial statistics are accurate, most Cape Verdeans are mulattos. However, I do agree that many of the people that are listed as black or white are, actually, somewhat mixed.

In France, the most famous Capeverdian national was the singer Cesaria Evora. She was probably the biggest name in what France usually calls "musique du monde", which is a metagenre regrouping pretty much every "exotic" music that is seldom if ever performed by actual French people.

Hey, so I absolutely love this vid & it's undoubtedly my favorite vid about CV. But being Cape Verdean myself, I think i'm obligated to inform you that it's probably not best you refer to the country or its inhabitants as "Halfrican". I totally get what you're getting at & that you mean nothing malicious whatsoever. It's just that Cape verde is part of Africa so for that reason alone, its inhabitants should be referred to as African. Yes, we're a mixed race nation & I love & am proud to be a Cape Verdean but as you mentioned, most of us borrow alot of cultural traditions from portugal. What's little known is that unfortunately, many cape verdeans try ignoring their African heritage all together & in fact, will often say that they are just Portuguese. This form of self hate or denial, rather, is only reinforced by false terms like Halfrican. Hope you understand. Thanks again for the informative & powerful vid! Keep em coming, please!

And imagine being North African, your home and your whole culture since the dawn of time has been on the African continent but poeple (your own poeple, foreigners, or other Africans) will never consider it as such simply because you're not "black". As if Africa was supposed to be this homogeneous blob limited in its diversity as opposed to the oh so great Eurasia.

Wow! That was great!! I am Cape Verdean, and i must say that this video was very accurate, i really enjoyed watching it. Very well done Paul. I barely find videos about Cape Verde that are made by people who are not from there. People normally don't know about us, so i am amazed and surprised with the information you got and the way you presented it. Barby, you did a great job!!!! Gostei imenso! :)

But I read in someplace, to go, go faster, because in a few short years, the place will lost it's natural look, cause of a lot of hotels that they going to make there.

Luís Almeida, well a little bit of research will let you know that Cape Verde is actually named after a peninsula in Senegal called Cap-Vert, and the Cape Verdean islands are right off that peninsula ( also referred to as a *cape* ), so the Portuguese settlers put a little spin on the name of the peninsula and named the islands Cape Verde, or Cabo Verde. Also, proud to be Cape Verdean! 🇨🇻
