What a race, yet again. I am a cyclist/cycling fan for 35 years and i have to say this is the golden era of pro cycling. Every race is so exciting from the beginning of the broadcast...

Ditto here. Followed pro cycling since Walter Planckaert, Claude Criquielion, Adrie van der Poel, Eric Vanderaerden, Hennie Kuiper, Phil Anderson, Jan Raas, Ludo Peeters, Johan van der Velde, Sean Kelly and the like. And though indeed good memories about progressive racing, the talented riders of today are just on another level. Speaking willingness to risk it all and seeking the opportunities. We surely are gifted these years.

Yeah, I noticed that in real time. It was weird.

Saw Mads P win Worlds in Harrogate outlasting MVDP and out-sprinting Trentin. Virtually everyone else had given up. That was gutsy. The guy has pedigree for sure.

Master class in team tactics by Lidl-Trek and perfectly executed sprint by Pederson. Great race.

Congratulations Mads P. Winning against MVDP is something truly special 🇩🇰

I really think both of these guys were like, nope, you aren't beating me, and that's why they kept working together until the very end. I feel like if one guy is maybe a little off/knows he's weaker of the 2 in a sprint, they start playing games. In this case, they would have been caught, so it was epic to see them both like, nope, you want it, let's go and hammer, they were trading pulls even under the 3k banner. Great race, hope the rest of the classics are this good.

In a danish interview, mads said that Mathieu was actually told to stop riding but Mads said to him something like 'come on, you're the world champion, let's do this' 😅

The harder the race, the better Pedersen's chances.

Its possible, but not every team has the personnel. Here Lidl Trek has a very strong team and a former world champion who still in his prime. MVDP tried. Reminds me of when teams targeted Sagan. No lead outs, no sprint train…it was him vs the world.

Lidl is racing smart. Great to see 2 WCs sprinting for the win. MvdP should have eased up a bit at E3. Didn't have to win by that much.

well the last 50k was purely even or even Mads P did more pulls actually. So I would believe he had plenty time to recover. He did more effort in the 80-70 k mark.

clipped the inside pedal while making that hard turn--if you listen you can hear it. Sometimes it's no big deal to clip a pedal and the bike rights itself. In that case it was a big deal. Actually after watching it a few times... maybe he did slip.

Milan had been up the road for some time and this meant that MVDP had to do all the work to bring him back as Pederson will not work. Pederson attacks as soon as Milan is caught so that MVDP gets no chance to recover. They won because they kept pressure on him all day making him respond to attacks and chase breaks.

why wouldnt he he has been world champion, and won a lot of 1 day races, only slightly behind MVDP and van aert on average.

@@TellusJD I guess I hold the word legend in a higher regard. At the end of his career, Maybe. If he adds a monument he might be in an exclusive club of someone who won stages at every GT, a monument and a WC. Idk how many did that but it takes something that very few have done to be a legend imo.

Weel he hass won in al grand tours, and a WC , and and alot of al other one day races , but he altso is a factor in Helping team mates to acheve goals , lok last year for chiccone for the spotted jersey , agree he dont have a monument , but surly won of the thoughest warrior in the peleton, PS i gues he has around 43 victouries he can ride a bike

How to win against the Beast(MVDP)?? Just start the sprint from far. He should’ve attack from 10km or less. 😢

MvdP biggest loses have come to strong sprinters not explosive sprinters. Mads and Kasper come to mind, both strong with long high end sprints, not explosive sprints. In MvdP defense, he did a lot more work than Mads in this race!

Not sure he would be there honestly. MVDP is a level above pogacar in these races, and Mads P is too on the right day. But you have the 4 best in Mads P van aert pogacar and MVDP when we talk classics.

That crash as 2:47 is suspect - replay it, looks like a motor. Also, spectators need to stop trying to lift riders up after they crash, leave them on the deck for the doctors to deal with.

His back wheel slides out, he panics and panic brakes locking up the front wheel. Disc brakes + panic pull = crash. Very dangerous.

Actually I watched it again, it's a pedal strike (look at the inside foot), then he panic brakes locking up the front wheel.

@@chrisjie2127 Yeah, rewatched that an agree, very odd mistake from a pro rider. I have done it myself and went proper airborne. Luckily i was panicking thinking i am going to hit that tree, and when i realised i wasn't i relaxed and so didn't hurt myself much.

not really ; the rider put too much power in angle so it makes him going down. Even at my little level, i experienced this

There is nothing whatsoever to indicate the presence of a motor in this crash. And no, do not leave the crashed rider lying in the middle of the road on the blind side of a turn so that the next fifty riders can pile up on top of him.

trek beat MVDP, mads was just the person there at the end. with all that sitting on, blocking on the front, 3 riders in break vs MVDP

Pads win as a passenger on mvdp wheels.

MVDP still overrated?

Mathieu just quit 20 m from the line while still side by side! shameful

Pads will never win in flanders for sure ill bit with mvdp.
