    We rented an apartment in Vienna and it had three of these 'hidden' drawers. We were there a year before we discovered them! 🤣. Love your channel and just subscribed. Always wished I'd trained as a joiner/carpenter - but just dabble now retired.

    I hadn’t thought of that. A modification of that will make an excellent retractable front step up in to my outside shed which is built on 18” stilts or stumps. It will be handy because I can sweep sawdust etc straight out the front door into the bin, which I couldn’t do if I put s permanent step there. Thanks.

    Awesome to be inspiring ideas!! I would perhaps use a normal drawer runner in that scenario and have a stop point at which you lift/sit the step on to locate. that way there is no chance of the step retracting while your inside.

  • @BradshawJoinery

    @BradshawJoinery

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thankyou, a plinth is the kick board under your kitchen cabinets. this is designed so you cut a section of kickboard and then attach to either a drawer or this step for extra storage or reach for shorterpeople/taller kitchens

    Great work .🎯🎯🎯 👍👍👍 I just made the draw box out of 18mm birch ply put pads on the front underneath and had a sliding step inside the draw like a tray as the step only needs to be about half the drawer depth, with a hand hole to remove if nessesary! Adjusted just right so the pads take up the 1/32" movement in the draw slide (60kg side mounts so not a stylish ) it's in the utility room so all good. New kitchen is WIP, face frame so not really enough depth to make plinth drawers much use.

  • @BradshawJoinery

    @BradshawJoinery

    Thattl work! The undermount runners would do the same tbh and flex enough to hit the floor.

    @@BradshawJoinery yes but you loose too much depth in a kitchen plinth. Although your drawer/step was quite deep. Dad made in plinth drawers way way back in the mid sixties, think he was ahead of the curve on that one, with wooden runners. The units in the basement now, 🤔 might be time to repurpose it into a workbench or something.

    I wouldn't worry about food safe with adhesive, on e it's set it doesn't release any chemicals etc. The glue is PU glue I use various brands but currently rank the wood Weld from construction chemicals the best
