and making it seem like he is more interested in showing off/impressing, than engineering and craftsmanship of his builds. example, great to use French cleats, but that cabinet is not going to stay sturdy for long. The weight of the cabinet plus the heavy contents will delaminate and weaken the structural integrity.

From a form and function perspective, this is innovative. As a former cabinet builder, I was cringing through the whole video. With no joinery, you're dependent upon the glue to hold everything together, and with end grain meeting face grain, there's not enough lateral contact for a good hold. With no sealer applied, several days of humidity could delaminate the plywood and destroy most of those joints in the cabinet box. If you were using a thin fiberglass over the whole project, it would likely last for 30 years. Unfinished, without proper joinery, and without structural reinforcing, I would estimate this cabinet to fall apart in fifteen years or less, not even long enough to grow the lumber to replace it. Sorry to be so harsh, but you could do better. Finger joining your plywood is not going to take more than a few extra centimeters of stock material, but make a cabinet that will last twice as long. Sealing and finishing will add even more life to it, making it last for a lifetime, possibly longer. Also, waxing your movable joints will make the operations smoother and reduce wear on the wood. Lumber isn't cheap, these days, and trees only grow so fast. If we carpenters are to be able to continue our trade for centuries to come, we must push ourselves to construct things with precision and quality, so it can last longer than the it takes to grow the trees to replace what lumber we use. It's practical, responsible, and profitable. I wouldn't buy this cabinet, but if it were built with better techniques and finished well, I'd pay $300 or more for it. That's the real difference of doing things well. I wish you luck, and I hope you grow in your carpentry skills.

That is a very thoughtful and well worded criticism! Your observations helped me spot the flaws in an otherwise brilliant bit of engineering. Which, as a novice maker myself, is good practice in spotting the opportunities for improvement in my own projects. Thank you for taking the time to share, both you and the video maker taught me things today!

I love this idea. I think If I made it myself though I would do two things. Move the hole/pull handle towards the bottom of it's going to be high up since I'm short, and depending on what I'm storing, maybe add something like a low "fence" to the shelves to help keep objects in place as I'm sliding the drawers in/out.

Excellent timing. I appreciate our designs for the articulation. My kitchen panty is 2m tall, and1/2 wide and 2/3 deep. The depth makes it impractical past 1/3 the depth, and I was wondering about how to divide the vertical by 3, then move the units out for access. I think your closing one side is critical for success, and the use of caster wheels will insure stability, even fully loaded. You answered many questions for me about this design.

@@wyaldkingdom Eventually the glue and nails will loosen, and the joints in the “bale” frame that lets the drawer pivot, take a lot of stress. Traditional joinery such as mortises and tenons or dovetails would be much stronger as the joints are as strong as the wood.
