Suggestion: Instead of placing the damaged plastic flipper into the landfill, there are multiple great & useful uses, such as: 1) Gardening: Label with name of seeds so you know what you've planted- Use as a lightweight shovel to replant and/or transport shallow plants 2) litterbox cleaner 3) remove dried chunks in gallon of old House paint - remove excess paint from brush or paint roller 3) add to cooking items in Children's Toy Kitchen 4) Training tool to deliver treats to spicy feral kitty in Training, learning to become more trusting! And many more genuinely valuable uses! Save our landfills😍

Plastic container gets messy yes. Running it through water and wiping it clean, makes that go away. Good items though.

When she said that it gets all messy, I was like, I know I'm not the only one that washes the plastic soap container every few days. I'm all for using less plastic and I should probably go back to bar soap if I really want to get rid of all plastic soap containers. In the meantime, I've been buying the large refillable containers of liquid foaming soap and refill the regular foaming soap bottles by my sinks. It costs about $5 for 52 ounces and lasts my small household more than a year.

The gasket on the glass jar is more likely to be silicone than plastic.

The human body requires bacteria. You never hear anyone dying from bacteria. Please also don't put plastics into Walmart plastic bags. They only recycle their plastic bags. Any other plastics put into the bag only makes more work for the environmental employees. Unfortunately not all plastics are recycleable. Also instead of using a sponge which fish can accidently swallow, use a wash cloth for dishes, a brush for hardened food, and hand towel to dry your hands. We did this in the 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s. We also sewed holes on socks using what is called a wooden egg with a handle. Our generation drank a lot of milkshakes with paper straws. Our milk was delivered in glass jars. We weren't a throw-away generation back then. Our shoes lasted a long time with care. Today shoes are thrown out for a new pair. Clothing were transformed into something new because lots of women knew how to sew by hand and sewing machine, or it was passed down or shared with outside family members, friends or a neighbor. We all did home cooking and baking. Restaurants were for dating. It was nice. Back then.

Please don't spread this lie! Thousands of people die every day because of bacteria! Again, bacterial infections are the most common cause of death. There is necessary, good bacteria and several deadly bacteria Have you ever heard of E. coli, Listeria, Salmonella, Novovirus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus pneumonia, or Sepsis?

Lol. It's true what you have said about back then. But what many don't mention is that the poor still do this. Everyone who comes into my house is surprised I don't have paper towels or anything like it. We use cloth hand towels and washclothes. I simply never could afford all that stuff. We also reuse everything we can. I'm not saying my house is plastic free, but we use a lot less plastic and save money. I by far prefer to buy the glass bowls with lids for my "Tupperware". They will last a lot longer. I have never even been much of an environmental person. It's just ,if one looks at costs, these things save money in the long run. Sure the glass bowls are a bit more expensive, but if you keep an eye out, you can find good deals on them and they last. I also will reuse any plastic container that any food comes in, if I can. But to me, these are just things that people who are financially challenged have been doing for a long time now. My grandma never had any paper towels in her kitchen. She used cloth towels.

I agree with much of both of the previous comments and if we're going to slow down global warming then we will have to go back to many of the old or just being poorer ways. While there's plenty of things in past that I'm more than happy to leave in the past, making much better use what we have, learning to repair our items while buying better quality items, and stopping buying endless amounts of things we just don't need is something we will have to do in the very near future for our own and our planets health.

The seal on the glass jar wouldn't be plastic. It's more likely rubber, which is a natural material. It could be silicone, which is a hybrid material, and lies somewhere between rubber and plastic, and way more durable. Silicone kitchen utensils are much more hygenic than wood. Over time, wood can crack or split, which is unhygenic (and disgusting!) whereas bamboo is antibacterial and stain resistant. So! Go bamboo or silicone! I have both in my kitchen arsenal. 👍

I would never put a ceramic soap container in the kitchen, likely to get knocked over & broken. Besides, the old one made foam soap, which uses far less actual soap. Better for the environment. Just put the plastic sink trap in the dishwasher or simply give it a good scrubbing.

  • @coribird5177

@Favorite Music Songs It doesn't. The foaming type requires 1 part soap to 3-ish parts water. The regular soap dispenser requires full strength soap. You'll use more liquid soap & then have to buy more, which comes in PLASTIC BOTTLES!

I thought the plastic recycle drop offs at the store are only for plastic shopping bags, not just any plastic bag, am I wrong? Also, your plastic soap container is a foaming soap, the ceramic container was not. Foaming soap won’t foam coming out of a regular dispenser.

Nowadays, i recyxle a lot of paper bags from departmental store cos the paper material is thick, it holds cloths seasonal use, hats/caps, glass mason jar, ir bigger glass jar great to store food with strong smell or flavour just prefer plastic lids though, cos the metal ones get rusted easily. Tqs the tip. Will continue to support you..😍

The pet treat item in the second half of the video seems pretty silly and a waste of resources. While I'm sure that the lady who made the 2nd part is just a very curious and imaginative individual, some of her creations remind me of a past roommate who lived with me for very short period of time. She was very creative but unfortunately, she was also addicted to methamphetamine and hence, why she was my roommate for such a short time period.

At 0:44, regarding the plastic spatula, "...let's go and get rid of this...." In what way do you recommend repurposing the plastic spatula and the other plastics you've acquired and are now replacing, to keep them out of landfills and oceans? Please refrain from lecturing on plastics unless you have helpful solutions to repurpose those plastics; "... get rid of..." implies trash. Also, "go and" preceding a verb is grammatically unnecessary and unprofessional. "Let's repurpose this plastic spatula by..." begins a stronger and more professional-sounding statement; then state your helpful suggestion to complete the statement. ☮
