Geneva Police, Fire Department Duck Rescue - April 15, 2024

🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 Duck Rescue
#GenevaIL Police officers and firefighters respond to all types of calls each day, including rescuing some ducks from a storm drain April 15 near Fisher and Larrabee drives.
Five ducklings fell into the drain and kept running back and forth in the connecting drains under the roadway. Police Officers Sarah Sullivan, Brad Koontz along with Firefighters Phil Affrunti, Sam Prang, Anabella Happ and Jake Steinmeir opened the storm drains to rescue three ducklings.
The other two ducklings swam into a tunnel and would not come out. One of the firefighters played a mother duck sound on their phone coaxing one duckling out of the tunnel to be rescued.
With the other duckling refusing to come out, the police and firefighters taped a net about 20 feet down the tunnel to secure the last duckling.
Officer Koontz spotted the mother duck (and other babies that did not fall into the storm drain) at a pond near Fisher Drive and Keslinger Road. As you can see in the video, the ducklings were placed back in the pond and reunited with their mom.
Thank you Geneva Police and Fire for the big and small things you do every day for our community.
