Genesis - Land Of Confusion Cover/Tutorial
Музыка
I play Tony Banks' keyboard parts from "Land Of Confusion" originally released on their 1986 Invisible Touch album. The track I used in the background is from The Way We Walk live album.
I used the Novation Impulse and the Rhodes MK80 along with samples of different sounds. Originally Tony would have used a Rhodes MK80 and a Roland JD800.
I also thought I'd leave in the countdown they had for this song which helped get everyone on stage in time with the sequenced synth bass.
Recorded and mixed in Ableton Live 11.

Great job! I can see that you are a fan of Tony Banks. Can you do Domino Medley next?

Thank you! That one will be a tough one for finding all the right sounds but I'll try to do it sometime in the near future.
Great cover as always! Was that a sequenced bass? I figured that was something that Steurmer was playing with the bass guitar.

Yes Daryl is doubling the part on bass, but there is also a synthetic percussion bass sound that plays throughout the song
Its a shame tony used the sequences for this one. If i remeber correctly, during the 1986 tour he played it all using the yamaha dx7. Still cool af tho

Well if he played the bass live then he had to sequenced other parts because it's imposable to play the bass and the rest at the same time unless you have three or four hands.

You can see him playing it with his left hand up until "now did you hear the news today...."
What are the patches you're using?

All of the sounds on this song were samples. The choir pad is the "Arr1" patch originally from the Fairlight CMI. I don't know the origin of the percussive main part so I recreated it as best as I could. It's a combination of multiple patches from various different synths and it's heavily processed with EQ and filters. The bell lead in the bridge is a combination of Prophet 10 and a DX7 bell sound.
Hehehe first
