Talks about how important it is to maintain equipment. Doesn't seem to notice the radiator slowly being clogged over time...

Since I've been watching the show, so far twice her generator has failed because it was dirty. Why is she not performing any regular maintenance on the generator? Why is there no kind of backup system, especially when she's there for emergencies? One time a US Coast Guard search and rescue helicopter was circling above Kavik asking for communication and she couldn't respond to them because the generator wasn't working because it was dirty and overheated. Just doesn't make any sense as that's the whole point of her being there, you would think she would be meticulous about taking care of it.

This program reminds me of the poor quality American reality TV shows. BBC really need remain true to their channel.

Sounds to me like they should have some battery banks and inverters to run some of the critical electronics and communication gear temporarily. Or maybe a secondary/backup generator? Or maybe even just a couple of portables for temporary use? Seems like a well designed setup there. Not.

So... they fixed it with temporary solution? What if the leaked oil blocked the vent for the radiator again? isn't it kind of pointless...

It is all about priorities. Get the generator working first to get heat and run freezers. Then you have power for good lighting and time to investigate. Normal repair process.
