Well - its a rich guy who bought a huge location to create a luxury vacation place for other rich people. Of course they can pay all the people necessary for a great event. This is not just "knowlegde" - its money. Of course you could do really bad although throwing a lot money at people. But without money you could probably not create something like this. And probably this is necessary for chess and many other "sports" events for entertainment purpose. People with too much money have to throw some of their money in there.

Why is it necessary for the players of each color to "discuss" the opening position before the games? Why can't they just start their own games independently, without "colluding" with the other players? Wouldn't that make each player's game that much more unique and special?

It’s called chess960 invented by Bobby Fischer. The pieces are put on random spots and there’s 960 different combinations hence the name.

IMHO, the traditional chess opening names, e.g., English, Spanish, French, Sicilian, Petroff, etc., simply DO NOT apply to Fischer Random. They only use those opening names because we're familiar with them, not because the same opening theory applies in Fischer Random.

What the hell is wrong with Ding?? is the world champion supposed to not win a single game???? honestly he should drop off his title to a real word champion. this game format was just a proof that the losers so called GMs are nothing but a memorizers for games database, once you get them out of theory, they blunder at move 2...

Dude... ding is obviously still sick and recovering, did you not see him coughing and gagging? also, he tied alireza, who beat magnus. Are you going to say that magnus carlsen is just a theory memorizer? It is all relative to every player in the tournament, we can't draw conclusions unless you put a 2300 in there or something.

@@radscorpion8 Seriously. You don't get in the top ten highest ever fide ratings of all time by being bad at chess and losing all your games. I guess they succeeded in bringing in new people to chess, but now the problem is that this small sample of unusual games is all they are using to draw their conclusions lol
