Hi There. Can I upgrade my older PTZPro Joystick with this new Reactor software? The Unisketch is a little difficult to use. Please let me know... Thanks!

In a way you can. Look for the Blue Pill Server: it's a small device that has the Reactor software and all the capabilities you see in the video and allows your PTZ Pro to connect to it via network. The sum is the same as having it all inside the panel. But I would really recommend you to consider the Frame Shot Pro controller as well, since with that you also get this host-functionality that can connect your older PTZ Pro into it and we have a configuration that basically melts the two together into one PTZ controller with visual preset recall.

There are some things you breeze by without explaining. For example, what is reactor and how did you get there?

Reactor is the software that runs on the panel and manages the mapping of PTZ functions to the buttons, knobs, and joystick. It's "installed" on the unit when you buy it.

It’s very hard to understand why it’s still visca control, and not NDI ! You can see on the zoom speed that its Visca, not slow enough for a beauty zoom in/zoom out. I dont see the point to invest on blue pill for my 4 x P400.. disappointed ☹️

We agree, the zoom resolution was never impressive on the VISCA protocol and exactly that seems to be the only significant improvement in using NDI for control signals. We actually have an NDI control device core for Blue Pill, but the problem is that Vizrt/NewTek requires a license fee that would add at least 5% of the list price to the controller. Are you ready to pay additional 100-200 €/$ to have that zoom resolution? We doubt it. There are many other good reasons to invest in our PTZ controllers though. Anyway, we are considering to release the NDI device core as a software that could run on a Mac/PC instead - then the license fee is magically not applicable as far as we know. But generally we are just really demotivated to pursue this because of licensing. It's tiring. At least I hope you now understand why. -kasper

@@SKAARHOJ sure we already had this conversation by email actually. I was already positive on paying more for a ndi control. I mean, Newtek has a great product and it’s already free on so many levels with the Tools, 200 more is perfectly fine. I’m screaming this on the desert but there’s still no « perfect » NDI controller for Birddogs, especially not the native one they sell. There’s like a huge market to take. Since, with out p400x we use the ptz fly with a p4k profile. Works well but a more native integration as it seems you made now on Reactor would be great. The main issue is ptz fly creates severe conflicts with camcontrol, the vision tools of birddog, maybe because one talks visca and the other NDI, I don’t know. Would love to help if it was needed, please check your mail you’ll recover my adress

Howdy. I have purchased a Blue Pill, but when I search my local vlan, it does not find my P240. When I go to add it manually, I do not see the P240 in the list of choices... Only the older P200... Can you please help? Thanks!

Hi Ben, Are we showing discovery of the P240 in the video? If not, then it's probably a matter of adding it. Should be easy. Looking for P240 on the mDNS records should be easy. Please send your request over to support@skaarhoj.com so they can put it in the backlog of issues. In the meantime, if you know the IP address of your birddog camera, it should be easy to add it using that.

@@SKAARHOJ Howdy. I contacted support. The issue was we needed to be running the pre-released latest software. We normally don't run anything except stable releases for production reasons, but as we need to be able to control the 240, we've installed the pre-release version.

Still too much money for these add-ons. $3500 for us private owners is too much to get a rocker Zoom controller. You need to make a smaller version with Rocker for us who are competing with the big boys and have spent our own money on BirdDogs. ROI isn't that easy when doing larger events against show companies that have $10K a camera budgets per camera. NDI needs to be enacted, I thought it already was? I'd strongly state that I'd like to see a PTZ Fly with a zoom rocker for cheaper. NDI needs to be enacted, I thought it already was?
