General Electric Filter Flo top load washer WWA8350VCLWH

Trash find filter flo washer, still functional! I don’t know it’s age, I’m assuming it’s from the late to mid 70s but if the serial number can be decoded I would appreciate it! More to come as I clean it up back to its former glory. It needs a lot of work!

My aunt had the same washer as a kid. She also had the matching dryer with the extra large drum. She got hers around '79/'80.

I had this washer. Mine was called a dispensall. It was their top-of-the-line version in harvest gold. It had a few more features than this. The clutch has seized in this machine. On these washers you could switch from slow speed to fast speed, but you will damage the clutch if you try to go from fast to slow. You had to stop it first and then switch. Considering it was outside, the interior of the machine is really in good shape. Lots of luck with it. Really a nice find. I would love to have one of those back again.

I’m not sure the clutch is seized bc it seems to be working, the belt won’t slip as it picks up speed, and before I tightened the belt it would make that noise for a moment then the belt would slip and it would disappear, I’m jus wondering why it won’t switch to low speed, and trust me I’ve turned it off, switched it to low and tried again and nothing. It’s supposed to start on low speed as far as I know then switch to high but it doesn’t do that! And it’s in fair condition, it’s got a lot of surface rust and needs a lot of attention

@@harrycrafter18 The motor burned out. It did a ton of laundry lasted about ten years. So I got a Maytag as a replacement. I never even thought about just replacing the motor since the washer was heavily used I figured something else would go.

The GE Spin drain usually had issues as water usually comes up and sometimes splashes at wrong places leading it to premature rust. Those washers probably would last longer if GE used Neutral Drain in these washers. I used to have a JCPenney Rim Flo Washer in the past by the way

What a GREAT find!!! Congratulation, you are extremely fortunate to have this washer. This straight 4-vane Activator agitator actually does a much better job of continuous turnover than the 8 vane. It is so worth restoring. It is a 1978 model and the spin speed is 610 RPM's

I’d love to restore it but I have never taken on such a large project such as a restoration, but machines like this definitely deserve it, currently it works but when something fails such as the belt or the leaks get worse enpigh it’ll be stored till I have the time for that, but trust me it isn’t going anywhere

1978- 79. The outer tub is probably rusting from being out in the weather. Cuz when i was a kid we had a hotpoint that left out the same way and my mom used it till I was like 7or 8 and it rusted out and my pops replaced it with a speed queen. But if you can fixed it do so these are one of the best washers ever. This and hotpoint has always been one my favorite washers from my childhood ❤️ And also u probably could find the filter flo pan, mini basket and the ramp agitator at an appliance scrap yard

Harry, In the clutch system there is a pin that goes up and down and when the machine is set in the normal speed, the pin will go up and allow the washer to wash and spin fast... When the machine is set for the low speed, the clutch pin will stay down and keep the machine operating at a low speed... If the speed selection is changed from normal to gentle without shutting the machine off first and waiting for the clutch to come to a complete stop, the pin will come down to the slow speed level while the clutch is still spinning fast and snap that pin right off and then there will be nothing but fast wash and fast spin... Someone probably did this and that's why you have no slow speed!!!
