General Colin Powell: Leadership For A More Perfect Union

Inspired by George Washington’s selfless dedication to public service, the Brookings Institution and Mount Vernon are hosting a free one-day conference as some of our nation's top government, business, and civic leaders explore how we can overcome today's great challenges.
During the evening session, Carlyle founder and patriotic philanthropist David Rubenstein interviews General Colin Powell.

I Had two Stepfathers who followed General Powell through Hell and High water in Vietnam. It was in the stars that I also wound up under his command, serving with President George H.W. Bush , Team Powell/SchwartsKopf /Horner . His influence will be forever felt in leadership circles Military as well as civilian. He praised his Enlisted In public and held his Officers to the highest standards. I followed his team through hell and I’d do it again to my last breath. Keeping his family in our hearts throughout this time Rest In Peace If we don’t meet up in Heaven I’ll be waiting with a pint of Meade for you in Valhalla

Good man rest in Peace, I remember in the heat of the moment at work If there was ladies around just give them a heads up your going to hear some wild language, they were always ok. Keyword is the heat of the moment. Harris will do fine. It's just a release, I didn't experience the same racism where I'm from but I remember going to Anchorage years ago and going to a night club where they took different sides physically, sure enough at the end of the night big fight broke out. R.I.P

To the people calling the general a phony or a liar. I'm saying this with all due respect but stand on it like king kong. Before you label some one you must look at both side. The first and most importantly, is to be not of your own understanding. You must understand the chain of command the only person he answered to who out ranked him is the president of the United States of America. He did what he was told to do by president Bush or maybe facing some type of court Marshall. But you don't know he made things right once he left the white house admitting on 60 minute with most of the world watching of his wrong doing and made no excuses and mentioning of no names excepting his own responsibilities living by one of his own 13 rules of leadership and being a better man or woman. Its not always about how you start a race but how you finish. People must educate themselves before passing judgment and even worse hate. But there's something that no book or education teaches and that is hate and how to solve it why a certain race feel they should be kings and queens over another race, what makes them think they are better, the color of you skin no your money no a position no is it because crime no because crime doesn't have a color. So what is it that make us better then any one or most is that person's character which follows integrity which leads to respect. The skin color or even the other things I mentioned doesn't matter. And you find these people in all races, but there's a few will never consider this due to what ever reason, and spend there time creating hate, when its there race causing our country's problem. My race doesn't matter because I'm an american and that title comes with responsiblity.

@@finallimoride4621 And Trump committed the worst treason the nation has ever seen, failed to get us through this covid crisis which is why we have 3/4 million people dead, convinced people to put bleach in their systems, bankrupted farmers, and was a complete ass before, during, and after his term. Insulting and spitting on other American notable figures like John McCain, John Lewis, John Dingell, and Elijah Cummings. Donald Trump also mocked a disabled reporter and a survivor of sexual assault. The fact that people will be dancing in the streets when he takes his final breath means he's worse than Jackson, Wilson, and Nixon COMBINED. So you want to smear Colin Powell, that's fine but just wait until Donnie bites the dust.

Could you please lay off of the “African American” line? It feels like an unhealthy obsession. They weren’t at all instrumental in building my country. America was a gift for me from my ancestors. They created it from the nothing. It’s okay if others enjoy it, but it’s mine.
