What I like about Gene, is love him or hate him, he is very clear and unashamed about who he is.

What's the point of him pretending, he's transparent. And I don't hate him and certainly don't love him either I just find him pathetically arrogant for someone with no talent.

Maybe he should be a little more ashamed of who he is.

permaveg He's definitely talented. Is he Geddy Lee or Beethoven? No...but he has written some great basslines and songs and has entertained many for years. Regardless if you like him or not or if you like his attitude or not you cannot call him a no talent. Average talent? ok fair.

I followed KISS, from 1978, till this very day. I was in Job Corps in San Diego, CA back in 1989; in '90, I have met another KISS fan, named Edward Covarubbias, who was a residential advisor, he brought in some KISS videos and while looking at the videos, I said to him "someday, I'm going to meet up with KISS & drop something on them,& they would trip out on it. Fast forward to 2006, after KISS made VH-1's Rock and Roll Honors, I ran into Paul Stanley and I gave him my Foilgami pieces of his band, & till this very day, he still has my 5 pieces of my art in his home. Now, I am going to get with Gene Simmons next. Besides, Maui may be a small island, but I will still have a pulse on this Island, & I will have a nice piece of Foilgami waiting for him to put in his office.

Gene and Paul are awesome..KISS rules forever..I love the book The Early Years a lot and also all of these interviews. I collect all of them from throughout the years. While KISS is kind of timeless , and eternal, an interesting side note is being reminded of particular historical happenings that were going on during each time period, in which they were being interviewed in, or performing in. It's cool seeing this now, since back when I got this book, I missed this interview. It's an awesome book too!! I love all of the books, including their individual biographies..I am a huge fan forever!!!

The misunderstanding is that Hannity is making it sound as though each girl expected to be his new gf or something close. That's a common misconception, for some reason. Many women are into one-night-stands just as much as men. No one is getting their hearts broken.

I think Hannity is being a bit too judgemental with Mr Simmons. Other than that, it was a good interview, at least we saw Gene's eyes. He usually wears dark shades.

I've always found it funny that Gene and Paul (Gene especially) are full of contempt for people who consume drugs or alcohol, yet in their live shows (at least in the 70's) Paul would glorify getting high and drinking in his stage banter. Listen to "Alive!" for some examples. They are hypocrites as far as this subject is concerned.

Hollowtekk Hey skippy - they claim to have always abstained from drugs and alcohol. So yeah, they were hypocrites then, and since they've never renounced all the years of celebrating how the crowd "likes to get high" they are still hypocrites.

Paul speaks openly about his own drug use (in his book) and he posts pictures of wine on his twitter feed. I think it's only Gene that really looks down on it; Paul seems to be about moderation.

ifutureman True. As late as 1984, on the 'Animalize -Live Uncensored' show (VHS original, some of it, if not all on youtube) he introduces the song 'Creatures of the Night' as : 'Here's a song for all those people who like to get a little fucked-up'. Yet I don't know if it's true that they 'never did drugs' because: 1) I've read a quote from Paul somewhere saying he did 'experiment with a few things' (i.e.substances) earlier in life' - likely in pre -Kiss days but he didn't go into specifics. But he's known to drink wine. And let's remember that Alcohol is a drug that can cause dependency, a CNS depressant like heroin, opium, vicodin, barbiturates, albeit a legal one. I also remember reading a recent quote of him saying that he was going to get Gene drunk for the first time ever, for Genes 60th birthday (I don't know if it ever happened). 3) Back in 1974, for the photo sessions for Hotter than Hell cover/back cover, they ended up having a party in the studio, everyone except Gene got royally drunk, and Paul especially so, to the point that he had to be carried out of the place. 2)Gene might have never voluntarily gotten high but he confessed in his autobiography 'Kiss and Make-Up' to 'having been high' when he inadvertently ate a bunch of pot/hash brownies during the backstage party at Detroit's Cobo Hall, sometime in the spring of 1975, after they had recorded one of the gigs that would appear on Alive!. So whatever they say regarding this subject in public and to Fox new in particular, might well be publicity oriented, pseudo-moral self righteousness and half-truths.
