You are right Gene, you are not a Hollywood star, you are one of the greatest actor to ever grace the screen. One mark of a good actor is when they play a villain and you want to knock them out with your fist. You have keep me and my family entertained over the years, thank you. I always craved an understanding of the person and career of Gene Hackman. Then comes you, sir. Thank you so very much. What a happy ending, too!!!!

One of my favorite actors. I’m surprised he and Dustin Hoffman did not do more together. He did not mention my favorite Hackman movie, “Class Action.” Hackman plays an aging plaintiff attorney who faces his daughter practicing corporate law defending a car company in a case similar to the Pinto exploding gas tanks.

LOVE Gene Hackman! You listed a LOT of his movies, but even that only scratches the surface. My two favorites were lesser known movies, "Target: and "Enemy of the State". What an actor! Priceless!

I can understand why he had reservations of Unforgiven, it was a brutal movie. Gene deserves all the best as his family too! Thank you 🙏

Anything Gene Hackman did in film or television, he brought humanity and humor. Hoosiers, Superman, The French Connection, Crimson Tide, and No Way Out wouldn’t have been so great if Gene hadn’t delivered his presence.

Mr Skinner, My favorite Hackman movie has always been Unforgiven. As you said Hackman never made a bad movie.

As the saying goes; "It is never too late"..Gene Hackman started his movie carrier at the time he was supposed to: not a year earlier not a year later. Excellent top-notch actor. I can tell you I have almost seen ALL of his movies, brilliant performer. I am so happy to know he has survived some near miss with his health, and that he is still with us and has a lovely home, wife and I am sure life in the twilight of his years. My mom wanted to be a writer all her life but with 5 kids sadly never accomplished it. Congratulations to Gene Hackman. And to you Jerry for a wonderful video as always.

Thank you for these biographies. I have been a movie fan for 60 years. You do a wonderful job and I know they take a lot of work and time.

an amazing Actor and Man. Gene was one of my Father's fave actors.Every part he played was outstanding. no one compares to Mr Hackman.

Your right there Jerry he was a great actor he made a lot of good films loved him Mississippi burning , Bonnie and Clyde and French Connection .

Gene Hackman has been my favorite actor of all time forever. There isn't one bad movie to his wonderful legacy. I've had a mad crush on him as well. His looks, his acting & his brilliance for me are unsurpassed. This was a great tribute to him & a chance for me to catch up on what he's been doing. I pray for good health and a long life for the wonderful, amazing man that he is

I thought Unforgiven was his best. Sorry to know it bothered him. The duck of death always makes me smile.

I agree about Gene Hackman and the movies, he just didn’t make bad films. I always enjoyed them and knew it was gonna be a good movie if he was in it. It sounds like Gene Hackman is in his 90s now! Good for him he deserves such a creative lifestyle in his retirement years! And it does sound like he has learned how to take care of his self and his heart. I wish him all the best👍🏻⭐️

Thanks Jerry for this tribute to Gene Hackman. An actor I've always liked and admired. One thing that's true is the words "bad movie" and "Gene Hackman" can never be used together when talking about Mr. Hackman's movie career.

1 of the best Vietnam based films is rarely shown nowadays, it's called "Uncommon Valor" made in 1983. It's a very good film and Hackman gives a powerhouse performance.

One of my favorite actors of all time !! So natural.

I was living in the Florida Keys, living just down the street from where his bicycle accident happened. I remember the helicopter sweeping him off to Miami. Coincidentally I was riding my bicycle at the same time and had to bypass my route due to the road being closed off because of the accident. Even though he only lived a short distance from my home, I never had the pleasure of meeting him. He was often spotted dining in the local restaurants and was well liked by the locals.

Never could stand Hackman, until this video. Thank u, Jerry!

I was born in 1980. So of course my 1st exposure to Gene Hackman was Superman. Despite playing a villain. He was so charismatic, that his voice has always been comforting to me. I love going back seeing his movies. Especiallly the ones I never saw before. Such an amazing actor!

"Enemy of the State" is also fascinating, and another excellent performance by Mr, Hackman. Late to this one but thanks as always Mr. Skinner.

Uncommon Valor is still one of my favorite movies from my childhood. I'm 48 now but still get chills when I see Randal Tex Cobb ( sailor ) in the movie, pull the pin on his grenade as he jumps out of the gun tower yelling YAAA HAAA, blowing up the enemy NVA and himself to save his fellow soldiers. Fantastic movie..

i wrote his publisher a letter about how amazing his novels are years ago. i was lucky enough to get a letter back. Mr Hackman is in a league of his own. You forgot ''No way out'' with Kevin Costner. Another amazing role. Thank you again for celebrating this amazing man. i would have loved to have met him. i can remember my Father talking about the car chase scene in The French Connection'' it was shot on location with no permits and it really happened the way it was shot. An inspiration to us all and never believe other peoples bad press about what you want to do in life. Gene just did it !!

Hackman, Washington and Hanks are my favorite 3 actors. Hackman has earned his peace in life a long time ago.

One of the greatest that is all I can say. They just don't make them like him anymore.

We musn't forget his performance in the hilarious "Birdcage"!

I agree with you completely, Mr. Skinner: Gene Hackman has never been less than very good (to excellent) in every film I’ve seen him in, and you can’t say that about too many actors. He was remarkable in the French Connection, The Conversation and Mississippi Burning. Great summary of his career, thank you.

One of my favorites ,the man just had charisma.

As an actor myself I’ll be honest with you. I hated this guy. I literally hated him..... Then I saw Mississippi burning. Then realized, I hated his characters. That’s how good of an actor he was. Immediately immediately become one of my top favorites. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. That is the truth. Bravo Gene.

He was seldom able to show his excellent comedic acting skills; his timing was impeccable. As Lex Luther there's a scene where Valerie Perrine says something like, "Why do you destroy everything you touch?" and he replies, "Why does the phone ring every time you're in the tub? I don't know..." Another comedy part he was good in was "All Night Long," where he plays a midnight pharmacist at a 24 hr drug store.

He was making a lot of movies and then suddenly retired. I missed him and wanted to see more movies with him. I'm glad Jerry made this doc and I finally find out what happened to him.

He did however break his vow to "never again play the villain" after 1993's "Unforgiven". When he played a sadistic mayor (named "Herod") in a town full of gunslingers, in 1995's "The Quick And The Dead"... I'm SO glad he did though. He's what really made THAT movie really fun to watch (besides Sharon Stone's great looks)!👍

My favourite actor because he never acted like he was acting..totally natural..every movie was a documentary...
