Sadly, 200% of 0 is still 0. The singular third-person pronoun "they" has existed since the 14th century and is literally older than the singular "you" (because like it, "you" also started off as being purely plural of which the antiquated singular form of was instead "thou") By his own words, that he said that his friend was bringing along "a friend". Singular antecedent was literally right there, apparently context and phrasing just doesn't exist in his world, apparently.

Geez, it's like we literally didn't have two entire major lessons in history to not be hateful of an entire group of people just for them being how they are when they're not harming anyone. You made a claim of them being delusional, go on then, prove it. Read through what I've sent and present your case, lest your position gets cleaved apart by Hitchen's Razor.

Do tell, if someone were to forget an item, would you say "who forgot his-or-her umbrella here" or "who forgot *_their_* umbrella here"? Also, do you have this same stick up your a*s about the pronoun "you" too? Another pronoun that was also initially purely plural, was then used for both singular and plural, of which it has been used for literal CENTURIES before now.

They/them as singular actually dates back to the 14th century and is standard English in cases where the gender is unknown or unimportant. For example, "Everyone loves his/her mother" doesn't really work, does it? But I get what you're coming from. I too struggle with they/them because my brain automatically genders people based on their appearance. Fortunately most trans and non-binary people are reasonable enough to let the occasional innocent mistake slide. 🤷‍♂️

No wonder he got cancelled there, this is a cancel-worthy English "joke" too, since we all know why the 700-year old concept of singular they is mocked like so and it's because it's to inderectly mock the non-binary people who have taken to using such language. If not, then the-also both-singular-and-plural "you" would be complained about like so too, yet it's not. Btw, singular they is also just part of proper English grammar. It can be used both plural _and_ singular and in this joke, in Rafi's on words, the antecedent for they is "a friend", that's a singular antecedent btw.

That's hilarious😂. A little story from me. Years ago my friend told me some people called gay are in the western I never heard before and thankfully they are not in my country. So when I bought my first mobile and launch youtube In order to learn english the tutor said hello guys and I thought he saying hello gay; I cancelled and moved to another instructor and he also said welcome guys to my youtuhe channel , I became furious at that moment and I thought he was saying gay😂. After years I underatand the difference between guys and gay😂

the table makes clear that those are suggestions... I don't have a problem with using gender-neutral pronouns, I just think we should, instead of using neopronouns, just teach Portuguese more "technically" correct. because in Portuguese, technically, there are no masculine and feminine pronouns, but neutral and feminine pronouns, but we learn as masculine and feminine. so the problem is already solved, we just need to teach it correctly.

Reminds me of what I recently heard said: “If your sex organs do not define your gender, then how does chopping those parts off affirm you gender?” It’s right up there with “why should I respect and accept your gender notions when you don’t even respect yourself as you were created?”.

I mean if you are actually curious, I can try to answer that. "Gender is not defined by what parts you have" just means that transgender people are real, and sometimes people feel wrong about their birth sex and body, and being seen as the other gender feels more right. So, even before they change their body parts through surgery, they are still trans on the inside. Of course for the majority of the population there is no necessity to dive this deep into someones identity or understanding of their own gender, but not being rude about it is generally a good thing. Which kind of answers the second question, that being self-hating or depressed or unhappy with the way you are does not mean that you don't deserve dignity and respect from others. Wanting to change yourself also doesnt mean that you dont deserve respect. It's polite to respect people and their decisions, even if you dont like them or think that they are sad for doing it.
