Definitely appreciate the instruction on this video and all the helpful hints. My kit came in today for my 2020 Ford F250 thank you. The kit looks great.
Thanks for the detailed disassembly and assembly video for this kit. I followed your steps as you performed them and the job was a success.
After watching your other videos on CP4 failure it all makes sense. Look like well thought out. Great upgrade for any CP4 pump.
I was just talked out of the SPE kit that’s sitting in my truck for my diesel shop to install, they said no way they will install it unless it’s a S&S kit, they had it in stock and gave them the green light, the shop recommended I look for a video you guys did to test out your system with great results.
Thanks for this video. It was helpful! The only thing I did differently was take the supply line off the pump before using a propane torch to get the vinyl line off. I didn’t want to take a flame to a fuel line in the engine compartment or damage nearby parts.

The one thing besides esthetics that concerns me on this kit vs SPE is the feed block for the Volume Control valve. The SPE one uses a threaded fitting instead of a machined fitting extending off the block. I would be concerned over stress cracks in the thinner walls where it connects the block. I have installed the SPE kit, it looks better underhood, but I also installed the S&S return filter as it is superior to the thing, which is sitting on my desk that SPE calls a filter. Makes for a rather nice looking paperweight, which is all it is good for.

Your concern is noted. There have been 0 instances of the machined hose barb cracking. We purposely did not use any threaded NPT connections in our kit. NPT threads can potentially create debris that will cause problems, and are more susceptible to leaks. We try to avoid threads when we can, but we had to use threaded fittings on the return filter head, and those have an o-ring seal. We'll admit that rubber fuel hose and oetiker clamps don't have the same pop has braided hose and aluminum fittings, but we prefer function over form.

@@SSfueled Thats understandable, makes the cost of the kit more business friendly too. It was just something to point out why I chose SPE over S&S for the DPK, but did buy the return filter because it is hands down far better than the stupid screen and extremely hard to install filter body. Took no time at all to install the filter.

Would it be a good idea to replace anything else, while you have all of these parts off? - Like the Serpentine Belt?
It’s like a fail safe incase the engine gets overheated it helps prevent piston warping or malfunction anti cavitation tube. Also helps in winter to prevent trapped air pocks

What? The kit is in case your CP4 pump fails. It prevents metal debri from traveling throughout the fuel system.
@kingOpooPee

@@TheOutdoorDaileys what sucks about it is these things only protect the fuel tank if your fuel pump grenades with a prevention kit, it still ruins, the injectors, the fuel rails, and your fuel lines. The only thing it saves is your fuel tank, and that’s the one thing that is just labor.

Is your return filter to tank compatible with other companies prevention kit. I went with another company when you had to cut lines with ypur original design..
@SSfueled

The S&S Return Filter Assembly (CP4-6.7F-BP-G2.1-RFA) clips in between the factory pump return line and the factory return line going back to the tank. As long those lines are retained it is compatible.
Would the installation be different from the video if its a 2015 i saw the attachment that goes on the 2020s but the one im doing is a 2015
@SSfueled

It's slightly different since you will not need to use the additional 2020+ adapter hose and fitting. Our printed instructions can explain the slight difference.
Does this kit void the Factory Warranty? Just bought a new 2023, but I don’t want to void the warranty.

I’d wait till you’re out of warranty. Anything added that the dealer can blame for failure is never good. I’m sure this won’t cause any issues but some techs and dealerships really stink.
just installed mine in my 2012 f250 i was getting 18mpg now instantly getting 16mpg. is it normal to drop after the install?
@SSfueled
6 ай бұрын
We have not heard of the DPK affecting MPG in any way, up or down. It just changes the flow path, not the flow rate. Most of the charge air piping needs to come off during the install and sometimes they do not get seated/sealed when going back on. A slight boost leak could cause a drop in MPG because it makes the engine less efficient.
Ok having this on the truck for the CP4 before the new pump you put out the DCR Will this work-fit on it ? Just for extra protection cause having it already....
@SSfueled
Жыл бұрын
The Disaster Prevention Kit is not compatible with the DCR Conversion, but it is not needed. The DCR is rock-solid pump that is very unlikely to fail. In the off chance that does, the case and plungers are fed independently.
Would this kit work on the 2020-2023 Jeep ecodiesel with the CP4?
@SSfueled

Our current kit is designed for the 6.7 Power Stroke and will not fit the Ecodiesel. We are exploring options for the Jeep Ecodiesel, but have been hesitant due to the active recall. You can sign up for our new product email list at the bottom of www.SSdiesel.com

@@SSfueled I think a kit for the eco diesel would be easily devised since the pump is located directly in front of the driver side cam and not really much to the plumbing. The hoses do look like a smaller diameter than the 6.7. This recall has been out for well over a year and still no end in sight. I have 2 beautiful ecodiesels just waiting to get out on the open road and hit the trails but I just can’t handle the anxiety of knowing of a possible grenade going off in my motor and I’m pretty positive there’s a lot of guys and gals who feel the same.

What's the difference between the original bypass kit vs this one?
@SSfueled
Жыл бұрын
Great question. Our original DPK split the fuel flow directly at the pump, whereas the Gen2 and Gen2.1 both split the fuel flow off further away from the pump (25 inches of separation). We also added a filter on the return side to catch metal in case of a failure. The original DPK has been proven to work many times, yet there were a few instances of the metal back-feeding through the short passages in the case of a major failure where the pump return circuit would get completely clogged with metal. We want to provide the best solution available, and when we discovered a potential issue, we made improvements to address it in the Gen2 and Gen2.1.
What’s the labor time on this kit?
@SSfueled

4-6 hours depending on how many the mechanic has done.
Thanks for the video. If you have an '11-'19 (I think it's 19'), you'll have a plastic upper intake manifold rather than the metal one shown in this video. It can be a pain to remove the plastic manifold, and there are 2-3 bolts close to the firewall which are rather difficult and require a combination of wobble/u-joints, extensions, and patience. I found a Pusher Intake video very helpful as it shows the plastic manifold (see link in my comment). Also, be prepared to clean the tar/carbon out of your upper and lower intake manifolds. My 2016 with 100k was FILTHY. I used a combination of gasoline, compressed air, flexible fillet knife, pressure washer to get it clean. I'm a pretty tool savvy shadtree type guy, and this whole job took me the better part of two days. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYN8q7V6f7TXnto.html
Will installing this void my warranty?

We cannot claim that it will not void the warranty, but we have had reports of the warranty being honored with a DPK installed. There's also several Ford dealerships that we sell DPKs to. It depends on the dealership.

Thanks for asking. The CP4 high-pressure fuel pump used in 2011+ 6.7 Power Stroke engines has a tendency to fail in a way that sends fine metal debris throughout the high-pressure fuel system. Our DPK changes the fuel feed path so that only clean filtered fuel goes to pumping heads and potentially contaminated fuel goes out the pump return and into a filter on the return side of the fuel system.

We hate to hear that. We have CP3 conversions for the 19-20 RAM if the recall is taking too long. It does not require an ECU reflash like the OE recall. We can't guarantee this, but we've had reports of customers getting reimbursed by Stellantis for our conversion kit when the OE solution was not available. Your truck being held hostage waiting for parts sounds like a good case to get the S&S conversion covered.
Less lip smacking in the next video…
Yet again just another reason to buy a Ram Cummins because even they learnt real quick get rid of the pos cp4. Ford could careless why cause y'all keep buyin them.
