Sometimes gen z feels weird to me though. I’ll occasionally use the term Zillenial. I didn’t have to navigate the 2008 recession as a teen/adult. I don’t remember 9/11 much, or the 90’s at all. Very few people I know around my age have kids or are married. I’m not a millennial. However, some gen z are still pre-teens, and I’m in a very different life stage! It’s weird to be in the same category as them. Also a lot changed about the world within the 2000’s! And in the past decade and a half even more rapid changes have taken place. I may be the same generation, but I really don’t feel like I grew up in the same world as anyone born after the normalization of social media.

2004 , and I do remember looking through phone books to call family, going to blockbuster every Friday and Saturday for Scooby-Doo movies, as well as rewinding vhs tapes and beating the living crap out of a box TV 😁

1992 millennial here, I was this way as well with my dad, now that I'm 30, I now feel how he feels now.

This is where as a ‘98 baby I never understood with the generational cutoff wasn’t 2000? Makes way more sense to me. Easier than trying to understand micro-gens and I feel way different about stuff then most kids born in the early-mid 2000s.

As someone who is gen z and still have semi vivid memories of 2012 world ending, it is one of my worst memories because I can only remember riding my bike to school with my father, I had no idea that day was intended to be the end but that was also the only day my father didn't scream at me or beat me, because he thought I was already dead

It's so weird as a millennial, because many of my coworkers are gen x, so I can't really complain about feeling old at work, but then I'll come online and see people 10 years younger than me talk about feeling old.

I'll put it this way. I'm gen Z born in 2000. I grew up playing outside and seeing the internet become it's more fast, modern and most importantly ubiquitous form. You as a millennial and your Gen X coworkers also grew up outside and had dial up or early broadband during your teen to adult years. It's more of a whiplash effect thing to see how we as Gen Z go from being kids outside and only really social in person to late zoomers and gen alpha growing up with what is essentially 24/7 communication with their friends from indoors. It makes us feel a bit old for our age in a way cause it's a lot easier to relate our early experiences to older generations in a way compared to the Cocomelon Generation. Hopefully that made sense.

Honestly, as a gen z born in 2000, it’s been really nice that people are finally talking about gen alpha when referencing the youth! Like I know there are a lot of zoomers younger than me, but as a 24 year old, it’s been annoying that so much media treats all of gen z like children or even teenagers. There’s nothing wrong with being young, but I am in a very different life stage. I don’t share so much culture with teens anymore. I feel like acknowledging gen alpha lets makes the age/technology impact variance of gen z a lot clearer.

Born 2001 and had a kid at my work (children’s librarian) ask me if I had kids. I asked them how old they thought I was (on average I get 12-15). Never again 😹

I'm 42, one of my best friends is 27. Everyone thinks he's older. Somone guessed dour ages exactly, except thought i was 27 and he was 42. I win that fucking game and dont let him forget it.

2007 gen z: Laughing in the background

I don’t know if it’s the chronic illness, or the mostly healthy relationship with mortality, but I’m not really afraid of being/growing old. Like I get why people are, but I really can’t relate. I think it’s pretty nice to not be seen as the youngest generation anymore, and I’m grateful for the ability to get older every year. Any other zoomers here in the same boat?

As an Xennial, that realised “50 first dates” is almost a 20 YEAR OLD movie yesterday, I feel this one.

My daughter told me that I was born in the 1900s and that made me feel some type😂

I was born in 1982 & when gen Alpha asked if you're elderly I said yes. But I've felt old since I was 16 due to fibromyalgia & dealing with a back fusion. I agree with Gen Alpha's horror at no ipad though. Except mine is a android tablet. I'm too cheap/broke for an ipad. But I do love my tablet a lot. Watching KZread, reading, streaming, doing research etc are great distractions from pain.

Being born in 1985, I told my son that we didn't have a microwave until the early 90s. He never believed me until a few months ago. Our microwave went out and my God, it was heartbreaking to see him trying to figure out how to reheat leftovers without it. A week later when we got a new one, it was the happiest day of his life.

Can confirm. Only rich people had microwaves in the late 70s. My best friend's parents had a microwave at home. It was huge, taking up a lot of counterspace. It was impressive to get food warmed up quickly if unevenly.

Well most people would because of increasing speed of health care just by 2050 the average life span in the would be 100 and people could live longer than 100 years with eaz and people who are born in 1990s would only be 60 and it would increase even faster so there high odds you could

Managed to confuse my niece and her friend TWICE with my birth year. They needed my birthday to log in to a game on my Switch. The friend starts “Okay, so, 19…” prompting me to finish. I said, “No, 2000”. My niece laughs in the most ‘gotcha’ way I’d ever heard her, “I _told_ you she wasn’t old!” He concedes the point and tries prompting me again, “2000 and…” “2000” “Huh?” “Just 2000” I watched their minds blow up realizing that there doesn’t have to be an “and” after 2000 😂🤣🤣🤣
