Fun fact: This album was done by the band as a "test" (if you will) for their new bass player Jason Newsted when he joined after the tragic loss of Cliff Burton. Hence, the not-so-great production and songs with heavy bass-riffing and solos. It's a shame what they did to Jason's bass on And Justice for All though, the very next album after this. I used to skateboard the streets with Garage Days pumping through my headset anticipating the release of AJFA when I was 14. Good times.
You need to listen to this whole album, it's short but so sweet! Other great covers that Metallica have done are Breadfan, The Prince, Am I Evil and Blitzkreig.
If you haven't heard their cover of Last Caress by the Misfits, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It's a bit explicit but so Punk Rock! Been a Metallica die hard for 15 years, glad to see you're digging it✌️
This song was originally by a band called "Budgie". They were a huge influence on Metallica

Budgie are legit. Really solid stripped down heavy metal without a lot of effects pedals, just high distortion, riffs and chugging, from '70s Welshmen who just wanted to rock hard.
Try some stuff from the band Budgie from which this song originates. Songs such as “Breadfan” (also covered by Metallica) , “I Turned to Stone” and “Napoleon Bona Part one and two”
Awesome!!!!! I love Metallica. One of the greatest metal bands. This a great jam. Glad you liked it!!! It is really unique with some great rifts. Back in the 70s and 80s it was hard to get a song on the radio over 4 minutes.
Can’t ever listen to this without thinking of battletoads at the beginning
My mom found my hidden cassette copy of this EP and then made me tell her how to copy over it (she didn't know about putting tape over the hole lol), and then she copied some country western thing over the top of it. This was 1987 and the "satanic panic" was still a big thing where I lived in the rural midwest; rock music of any kind was strictly forbidden at my house. Ahh how times have changed 😅

That’s insane
Oh my god, this song brings back memories of being a Metallica fan in the early days! My very first live Metallica concert in 1987 as a 10 year old boy... luckily I have a sister who is 10 years older than me and was/is enthusiastic about music and gave me the opportunity to see this concert as a little boy and total metal fan, especially Metallica! That was probably also the foundation that 9 years later allowed me to complete a 3-year training course in the security sector and personal protection, and then immerse myself in the large events, concerts, festival music business until today! And so a few years later I had the honor of accompanying the guys from Metallica and many other huge acts up close over a day of operations alongside their own security team and bodyguards! Since then I have experienced Metallica live on tour or festivals over 25 times as a guest/fan and 12 times at work! And many, many other world-famous artists and bands for which I am so grateful today, to my sister and to the fate of being able to experience many legendary bands and acts in the 80s and 90s, which are now being rediscovered by the younger generations of kids and teenagers and sometimes totally celebrate this!!! Greetings from little Switzerland 🇨🇭🤘🏼
This is a cover of a Budgie song btw
The whole garage double album is covers but it's still one of favourites it's metallica doing covers and it's class 🤘🤘🤘
Gotta get your reaction to In Flames - Cloud Connected. It's a good start for you. Then listen to their older stuff from Colony.
BLACKENED and BATTERY are two excellent metallica songs that really show off what the band can do.
Need to listen to So Fucking what
Yes this is a Budgie cover. Imagine Black Sabbath with Rush vocals and you’ll have an idea what they’re like. Soundgarden and Iron Maiden and Megadeth have also done Budgie songs. Dave Mustaine loved them and turned Metallica on to them. Metallica’s version of Breadfan is great, but Budgie had plenty of great songs. I Can’t See My Feelings, Zoom Club, Breaking All the House Rules… their epic song is Parents. They were more a bluesy hard rock band like early Sabbath but by 1980 they had become a heavy metal band and somewhat sounded like the other NWOBHM bands they originally inspired.
Cadence Presley the best Metallica song is Bleeding Me
Try the wait
It's a COVER of a Budgie song from the 70s, not an original by Metallica.
I am, officially, caught up now. 🤪 Metallica has never been high on my list - maybe only a couple songs that I've liked from them over the years. Your reacts are always entertaining, though, Cadence!! 👊
this song is not the best Metallica, but I still enjoyed listening to it. this put me in a good mood. thanks for your reaction, it's gratifying to watch this video and see how you enjoy metal music.
More people should know Budgie than Metallica. Sad world we live in
Actually according to the swedish alphabet, you're gen Å and that you should have been aware of that and therefore should feel slighty ashamed in the same way a dentist would if they made a root canal treatment on a stray dog in order to cure the rabies it in fact never had.

It's an ok cover. Budgie is superior.
