I love gen 3. First one I owned and easily the one I put most time into. I think OR/AS are the pinnacle of generation remakes. Since it's sort of become my "thing" I should point out some trivia and context to the designs. Shiftry is meant to be a tengu, another yokai to compliment Ludicolo's kappa. Silcoon and Cascoon do have two eyes, for some reason all of the artwork and early sprites put them in side profile. Ephraim is right about Raltz's eyes, too. It has them under it's hat/hair thing. Hariyama is 100% a sumo wrestler, most of the fighting moves in sumo are slaps and shoves which his huge hands reference. Sableye could be based on any number of "mining sprites" from British folklore like knockers or coblynau. It's appearance is weirdly almost a 1:1 for the Hopkinsville Goblins, which were a purported alien encounter from the 50s. Manectric is a maned wolf, which is maned but not a wolf. I think the idea is that it's so full of electricity that its mane is standing on end? Plusle and Minun exist solely to show off the new double battle mechanic. They're meant to be cheerleaders. Volbeat and Illumise are supposed to look like a 50s era greaser with a biker jacket and a "good church girl" with the bob-cut and sort of housewife-y looking blouse. God knows why. Being so yokai heavy, gen 3 reminds me a bit of Yo-Kai Watch. It was a pokemon-like that was really big in Japan. Hundreds of them, most of them weird and almost all based on Japanese folklore.Might be worth checking out. There's a bunch in there that are really love-or-hate.

I never used breloom because I always used Treeco and it's sad. Breloom was so badass in the Anime. Not many loses in this Gen.

I think a cool video idea would be to do one of your pokemon drafts but for a single generation/region instead of a single type. Also idk if y’all watch hockey, but RIP the Rangers. It would’ve been cool to win it on the 20th anniversary since our last chip🫡 Great vid as always, can’t wait for pt.2!

Now while Sableye may not have been the best or the strongest in its original generation it didn’t stop my younger self having it as my solo over leveled pokemon like how most children have a team that is only their starter. I did have a starter as backup but for emerald that was my main guy.
