I absolutely enjoy the no music, no talking, just work. Great job too. You're making me want to completely redo my r53 lol

What a build I love how there was no music no talking just straight wrenching and breathing wish all video that other KZreads make were just like this!! Excellent build

15:13 when your torque wrench plays the intro to sandstorm.
Tritec Motors! Mande in Brazil!!! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Power Flex yellow engine mounts are awesome....a little NVH in the first 300 miles or so but does go away. For the bottom mount I injected windshield silicone into the voids only. That particular mount if too rigid can transmit vibrations to the engines oil pan increasing likelihood of early oil pan gasket leakage.
Thanks for the video! After a slow rebuild I forgot where each bracket goes and this was super super helpful!
Love how beautifully detailed and clean the engine is. Inspired to do something similar to my own
ASMR engine builds... love it. Also, love that you're updating all the hardware to hex heads.
I appreciate the simplicity of the details you share in the video. Very helpful! 🙂
Currently rebuilding my engine and you saved my ass because I forgot where some of the electrical goes 😅
Nice job, thing looks like a million bucks under the hood
great video and great work with the build. Very satisfying.
This was so satisfying to watch, thanks
Why i love this engine?so simple and nicely made
Very nice job!! keep up the good work!! R53s for ever!
Such a neat project. Gives me a slight glimmer of hope that I could do that. Very slight.
congratulations very good work and well detailed......I'm also doing mine, it deserves it, it already has 124,000 miles and I never had problems with it.
TIL: the r53 mini cooper S is a single cam engine, I completely forgot and would have sworn it was DOHC. Love that motor
Oh my God bro I love ur work very nice on clean
Wow, good job! 😍
That is incredible.
Damn that's freaking awesome
Thanks for sharing your great work. I enjoy these videos very much. May I please suggest you consider using more support under the car. Those jack stands are not the most stable I have seen. Especially around the 18:03 - 18:10, it seems the car moves quite a bit. In other videos I see you work under the car, and even though you have wisely placed the wheels alongside, an extra pair of stands might be a good idea. I know I do when I am under my R53. Good luck with the car. I hope to see many more videos of it.
So easy, when it isn’t in the mini.
Hey where did you get the bolts kit for the entire car?
that cracked alternator though...
Hi there do you know how to remove the bottom bracket wiring harness that is attached to the gearbox. There is a bolt holding it down on one side but the other side I can't think how to get it up as I don't see any nut or bolt
Do you know how to remove stuck hydraulic tappets in the r53 rocker arm.
Did you snap your clutch slave ear off? I did. Did you replate your bolts?
Property done! That’s what you call a job well done. Don’t suppose you know the bolt size / thread pitch for the bolt that secures the heater core pipe to the cylinder head? The one your tightening by hand at 7:00? I changed my thermostat a few weeks back and mine didn’t have one so looking to replace

I'm pretty sure it's an M8, it doesn't need to be too long so maybe 12mm not exactly sure

I noticed the wiring harness was completely separate from the car, where does the harness plug into the car at?

There are a few large connections on the passenger side that seem to be where most thing plug in!
2 questions?? What process did you use to get the inlet manifold looking so good, and what make of torque wrench did you use??
@trackdriven
Жыл бұрын
I ended up trying some aluminium cleaning chemicals to remove the caked on grime however this proved not very successful, so in the end it was cleaned with a wire brush and then painted silver! The torque wrench is a Draper Expert.
where did you get that hose kit? cant find a kit that comes with the oil cooler hoses.
@trackdriven

I used Pro Hoses the ancillary kit and coolant hose kit for replacement of all of the hoses: www.prohoses.co.uk/product/mini-cooper-s-r53-01-06-supercharged-ancillary-hose-kit/ www.prohoses.co.uk/product/mini-cooper-s-r53-01-06-supercharged-coolant-hose-kit-3/
This is actually a really cool video. Cant wait for my new camshaft! What one are you running?

I chose Newman's PH2, as it doesn't affect idle too much, power seems good
Great work! Did you also rebuild and the inside of the engine?
@trackdriven

Nothing inside the engine was touched in this build, I have hopes of big valve head in the future but for now it's running sweet

Love the videos. What process did you use for cleaning, prepping and painting the block please?
@trackdriven

Thanks! The block was initially wire brushed to remove any really loose rust, then some paint over rust converter was applied multiple times and finally a top layer of brush on black engine enamel!

Pro hoses, I purchased mine through Orranje :)
This has made me want to do the same to my mini! Such good content! How much would you charge for a full rebuild like this? The subframes are too nice on the other episode. Were they the r56 rear trailing arms?

thank you! I'd love to do this for a job but unfortunately this is just my hobby, the subframes were blasted and powdercoated black and the trailing arms were upgraded to the R56 yes

@@trackdriven Shame this isn't your job! I had my card out ready to pay you! Do you mind if I ask how much the powder coating cost you? How did you install the r56 trailing arms, did you use the adapter to keep r53 suspension, what brakes as well? It may be a nice job for me to learn how to do it all. Apologies for all the questions haha !
@trackdriven
3 жыл бұрын
@@patherl1 No worries about the questions! I can't remember the exact figure for the powdercoating I think maybe around 200 for all the bits. The suspension is R53 using the adaptor bought from Orranje and the rear brakes are refurbished R53 callipers, R56 rear callipers do fit but you need to get r56 handbrake cables to match

Too much 😅 I think that about 2-3k would be enough to do a really good job though.
why didn't you install a k honda engine instead , it would last you longer with no issues
@trackdriven

I've seen builds with honda engines and they look great! But I enjoy the supercharged power delivery of this engine and unfortunately my budget can't stretch that far 😫
I'm sure you did but if you didn't notice the alternator body was badly fractured and will eventually die.

This was noted while putting it together and in the end it was a bad decision to not replace it while it was out, it ended up failing and had to be replaced trackside.
