Smart Cleanup is only there if it finds exact duplicates, if you have recently had a good clean-up you will have to review them manually. Also Smart Cleanup is only on the paid-for version. 😁

Can I use this on my iPhone?

Sadly it is only for the Mac. If you are focused on photos there is the new Apple deduplicate finder for Apple Photos that you will have on your phone, but I have had mixed results with it. 🙃

Thanks for the review. It was confusing if we could use it to compare two different folders? Can I use it for documents other than photos? 😀

You can load up any folders you like and compare, photos, files anything. But what you can also do is load up 2 folders, have one as your 'master to keep' and one as your 'I think there are duplicates in it', so in preferences, you can then protect the 'master to keep' folder. Then it will remove the duplicates from the unprotected folder... I hope that makes more sense! 😁

@@amandalittlecott Thanks! I did a little more research and they have been getting a lot of negative reviews lately so I went with a different program. Works pretty much the same. But, this was helpful. 😀

@@jenniferressmannwriter I have to say it is not my favourite, but I like to give all the options. If you are looking specifically for photos then you can't go wrong with PhotoSweeper for Mac!😁

@@amandalittlecott You know I needed something more so I went with Duplicate File Finder Remover from Nektony in the App Store. It did a pretty decent job. It helped to work in smaller batches - for example, a folder of photos compared with another instead of a folder with many folders in it. 😀

3:08 - What did you say? It sounded like, "Photo Super for the Mac." Is this Photo Super better than Gemini? I'm new to all of this - someone recommended Gemini and that's how I got here.

I would say PhotoSweeper is better for videos than Gemini 2, if you are on a Mac. If you have a PC hanging around then Duplicate Cleaner Pro 5 does an even better job on videos specifically. 😁

@@amandalittlecott Thanks Amanda. I'm on Mac. I just bought a NAS, where I will store all my photos and videos (there are a lot of them) and I have to do some sorting between my Google Take Out and two external drives. All that data has to be filtered and duplicate files removed, then I will have to do the same between the result of that work and the backup I have already dumped to my NAS, believe me your advice will help me a lot. Thanks for all this info

@@amandalittlecott Wooow, thank you very much, this will help me a lot to merge the 170 folders that google Takeout made, do you know if it also unifies the Json files that Google photos creates? Thanks again, you are helping me to speed up a lot this tedious (but beautiful) process.

Are your Photos downloaded to your computer or optimised, so in the cloud, that might be the issue!😊
