'Just got the Gecko - functionally and ergonomically superior to the (many) other harp racks I have owned, including the high-end Hohner Flex-rack. More stable and comfortable (others rested partially on my collarbone, eventually moving around; the Gecko 's stance is wider, as are its comfy leather-wrapped chest 'feet'). The Gecko's on/off and harp loading processes are fast and effortless: all angle adjustments are maintained between uses. The magnetic base is brilliant - a strong, instant connection that also allows rapid, one finger adjustment of the harp's centering. It is well constructed. Durable yet lightweight, its' folded form factor is less than my other racks (which are now permanently retired). Overall terrific design, materials, and execution -- Gecko is the new standard for performing players.

I've been using and playing with mine for about three years. It works as advertised. A "mystery part" fell off, but the thing works perfectly so I never bothered putting it back on. After playing for years with the wing nut thing, this harmonica holder is brilliant. The magnet is sheer brilliance and way better than the old double clips. Thank you, Pete Farmer. I'm a pretty darn good guitar player, but I get the most compliments on my harmonica playing while strumming.

I am 51 years old, and I have a very short and thin neck. Every other harmonica holder I have ever tried had 1 of 2 different problems. Most of them are too high, and the harmonica ends up at the top of my nose. There are other holders that might have three pivot points to get the right angle, but the process of adding and removing harps is not easy. I got this Gecko holder with the double magnet to use the bottom one. I have a new love of playing the harmonica. The only things I would request are 1. that there be an option to lower the front bar even further (so I wouldn't need the bottom magnet) and 2 a way to raise the block rubber at the back of my neck so that it presses against the bottom of the back of my skull higher up.

I've received my Gecko today. A very nice device really, brilliant invention. I like mostly how it stays in position and easily adjustment mechanism. Thanks Pete once again.

It was a really long road to finally get here: 10 years of work, $9K+ of mold costs, 4 iterations of design cycles, 2 patents, 1 great partner in Seydel, and the most fortunate of numbers worked, 1000s of happy customers who have helped me along the way and saw the value of this project. Looks a confortable design. I understand Gecko is the next generation after Sidenote and Archtop. Can't waite to have one, and I see, beside Seydel it is also available at Thomann, Germany. Thanks Pete, you've made a great contribution to the music, welldone.

Thanks Todd! I really like the look too. Most the "components" were designed in the the die cast hinge which freed up the hardware in the sight lines...

Its an Art Lutherie Parlor guitar - Cedar Top. Either harp holder can work to be adjusted to your style of play and body type. The Gecko a little more so. Hope that helps!

Is the magnetstrong enough to hold the "Rackit" mic and hands free harp holder in place? Thanks

Yes. You can buy the metal clip add on on Greg's Blows Me Away production s website and from Rockin Ron in SD, CA.

Does anyone know of a video that will explain how to take this out of the package put it on make the adjustment and lock it in?

Forgive my ignorance, but am I to understand that if I want to use the Gecko holder, I must get rid of all my harmonicas and buy Seydel ones? Seydel makes a variety of harmonica shapes, which one(s) does the Gecko work with? The 1847s?

The Gecko works with ALL harmonica cover-plates that are made with iron (aka steel). That is most every harmonica out on the market. For the non magnetic cover-plates, we have a spring grip attachment.

You can use any standard type harmonica. Hohner & Lee Oskar both work great in the Gecko

The magnet has zero effect on reed functionality?

The holder is definitely not suitable for the Seydel Concerto! The magnet holds the harmonica, but also the reeds, and causes them to stop or even go out of tune! Terrible crap.

What if one's harmonica is NOT magnetic?.
