The first Gears of War novel: Aspho Fields, delves heavily into Marcus' background and shows that he and Dom have been friends since around the age of 9/10 if I recall. They didn't become brothers in arms during and after E-Day. They literally had each others backs across both wars. They've fought and bleed together for more than 75% of their lives.

Gears of War is essentially a video game interpretation of the most over the top 90s Image comics like Death Blow and Bloodstrike. Essentially it takes from Rob Lefield. If a developer doesn't understand this source material they shouldn't be making a Gears game.

That theme gave me chills. It brought back memories of looking at screen shots of the first gears of war on my old home pc. Seeing that original commercial. I always thought gears of war was the real showcase game for the system. As much as i loved halo 3 gears just looked so much futher ahead of its time. So glad i got to enjoy that incredible xbox 360 era in highschool.

Same bro. I love how each game has it’s own version of the theme. It sounds like E-day has its own version of it, I hope they use it for the menu music. Been playing gears since 2007 and it still gives me chills

I can not wait to see this game at full 4k, and all the memories of the good old days of gaming.

When hivebuster came out, it's a clear example of what happens when you don't have Rod trudguson helicoptering Gears of war franchise. Like how do you get rid of Michael Barrick cigar?!

I find it basically impossible to get excited about a pre-rendered cutscene (especially one that leans heavily on the 'villain gets an upper hand and throws the protagonist around the room instead of actually killing them' trope), but I do have some fondness for gears of war at this point. The original was the first game I got for my 360 and and I enjoyed 2 as well. Then I migrated to PC, I later tried 5 on game pass and it didn't hold my attention, but it did remind me of how good the weapon lineup of the series is. I love a good co-op experience so my fingers are crossed that this will be good!

Probably easier for PS users to start with too.

Of course I am very excited for this game, but I must admit I am rather disappointed that they chose to prioritize a prequel over the conclusion of the new trilogy they had spent years building. I really enjoyed the story set up in 4 and 5, and it felt very dissatisfying to see that story put on the back burner in favor of this.
