GEAR AID SEA BUFF | How to preclean you new Scuba Diving Mask | HOW TO STOP YOUR SCUBA MASK FOGGING

After making several videos about choosing and preparing Scuba Diving Masks, Gear Aid reached out to me to trial ther SEA BUFF product, stating it was a much better option than the naked flame and toothpaste methods I had been showing. Specially formulated dive mask pre-cleaner and slate cleane, Sea Buff carefully removes residue left on new dive mask lenses by the manufacturing process.
Before diving and snorkeling, clean masks with Sea Buff Pre-Cleaner. Cleaning dive masks is a recommended step prior to anti-fog treatment. "Rinse it with water on-site before diving". Do I use my fingers or just gently rinse the potential residue with water without touching the glass surface?

I rub in with my fingers and don’t really do much to wash it out before I dive, certainly don’t use the bucket to rinse

I used Sea Buff on my new Apeks VX1, but it seems that it slightly scratched the glass. In strong light, I noticed very small holes in area around the corners and some small scratch. Unless they aren't small manufacturing defects of glass...

I’ve not noticed that I have tempered glass not plastic so doubt it was the sea buff it’s glass on your mask

Depends if that coating is on the outside. If it is, just do it only on the inside (you don't need to clean the outside anyway).
Its interesting that you clean the front of the glass since that part will never fog. Good video tho!!

cleaning new mask= 'de-siliconizing' drops inside + outside.....anti-fog , notice JUST inside mask

@@tvmasterprobutts4246 There is no point in removing the silicone residue on the outside. It will just wear off with time anyway and does not harm anything.
No need to waste it on the front. There the silicone isn't a big deal, since it obviously won't fog.

Good to clean all surfaces to remove any build ups of detritus and prolong the life of the mask in my view

@@AndytheNorthernDiver Usually you can just do it later on once after the season. I mean that you don’t need to do the proper initial scrubbing of 4x rounds like inside the mask.

@MetallicReg each to their own, I like to make sure it’s as clean as possible before I wear it, then rinsed with clean water when I’m finished
