Great review- I just ordered one with the induction range

Good, detailed review, especially the pros and cons. I have the gas range of this line which is great and now I have to replace my older microwave. I was thinking about this one to go with the range since it seems like an obvious choice, but the poor heat distribution of the convection, the lack of button sensitivity, and the much higher cost than typical GE microwaves is making me consider other models. Thanks!

Thank you for posting this video. I'm looking at purchasing the Profile model which is the next step down in the line but the functions and features are very similar. I was especially concerned about how the knob works vs. a keypad so I really appreciate your comments on that feature.

I’d love that feature! Chef connect oooo sounds fancy! The convection feature would definitely make me get this microwave 🤩. I feel the keyboard responsiveness would annoy me 😅. But probably after using it for a while- it just becomes habit 💗. Hmm I wonder why the top right cooks so much more 🤔. Awesome honest first Impression review! 💖

It’s nice to have the convection and the steam functions! It has a lot of nice features, so cool that it connects the light with the stove. I’m probably going to do all stainless appliances after the new year so I’ll keep this is mind. 💕

I need your help for precision microwave but I miss my paperwork all people work I don’t know how to program it I don’t know what to do and also is damaged from side can you tell me if I can order those missing stuff and then if I can order the book at least now how do

I'm looking at purchasing this microwave, along with the induction version of the range. With the uneven cooking for the convection option, do you find that to be a common issue across the board or is it just with some dishes? I would hate to spend that amount and have the dishes come out unevenly cooked or baked! I was looking at the GE Advantium 240 volt microwave convection oven but it is SO much more expensive than the Cafe one. Thank you so much for your reviews on these, they've been super helpful. BTW I totally want the Cafe dishwasher too even though ours is only a year old. You can't beat the bottle and utensil jets!

I’m so glad the reviews are helpful! For the convection microwave, the uneven cooking only occurs when I use a larger baking pan. I’ve used the smaller round pan it comes with without any issues. The dishwasher is the best! Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions

You’re welcome! I have not used the air fry feature in the microwave but I have used convection with the round rack and metal pan. It worked well!

I greatly appreciate your review of the Cafe over the range microwave. I was planning on purchasing along with the inductive slide in single door range. However, there have been reviews regarding the handle on the microwave peeling, wearing off and being plastic. Have you experienced this? Thank you.

I have not experienced this and honestly not sure how that could happen. As far as I can tell, the handle is made of stainless steel. Hope that helps. Good luck with your purchase!

With the cons you mentioned is it worth investing in the Cafe microwave? I'm upgrading my stove to a double oven since I'm a big baker and liked your video on the Cafe range. The other one I thought about was the GE Profile but love the looks of the Cafe and was wondering if I should go with the microwave? Everyone says with the brush of a towel the knows come on or the panel and this was a con?

Honestly, on its own I don’t think the microwave is worth it. If we didn’t buy the whole series then I would’ve picked a different microwave. The wattage isn’t powerful enough. I do love our range though. The panel does turn on easily when you lean against it but it doesn’t turn the knobs on

Do you know how the charcoal filter is supposed to be in?

What a cool microwave!?! It’s so fancy. I love the idea of it being a convection oven. You never need an over again. It sucks that it cook it evenly those pizza cup

Hi! Yes we do still love the microwave. Our biggest complaint is that things will take about an extra 30 seconds to get hot but since we know that, it’s not a huge deal to add additional time.

Hey Bianca! What do u think of the microwave now?

I noticed you were baking with the top rack. In my owners manual, it says to use the lower shelf position. maybe that’s way your muffins weren’t consistent. Here is what it says For Best Results: Use one shelf in the lower position and leave at least one inch gap between the cooking dish and the sides of the oven. The shelf is required for good air circulation and even browning I wish they would have provided a cook book. You pretty much have to fly by the seat of pants on this one. I’ve done everything but Convection Roast. I’ll probably use my Cafe oven for that. Going to look for a convection microwave cookbook. Do you know if you can use aluminum foil in the Convection Bake? This is the microwave video but I assume you’re referring to just the oven range. I believe the vent blows air out on the right side and circulates/intakes air from the left side for both the cooktop and the oven

I'm considering buying this Microwave to match the double oven I just got. I have a 15" cabinet over my range so I'm not sure if the microwave will extend far enough to let the vent on the front top vent properly. The specs say the microwave is about 18" deep which should give it 3" past the cabinet. How far back from the front of the microwave does the vent extend?

Just measured my microwave and it’s 15.5” deep. My cabinets are 12” so just enough for the vents which are about 1.5” from the front of the microwave. Hope that helps!

No, there is no tube leading to the outside for this microwave. It has a fan instead.

How does the steam feature work? Does the microwave need to have a water line plumbed in, is there a container somewhere that you fill, or do you add a bowl of water in with the dish that gets heated to steam?

You put whatever food it is in a microwave safe bowl with a cover or plastic wrap and add 2 tablespoons of water. Then the food button you select will run for the appropriate time. Pretty much just takes the guess work out of it. Nothing too fancy!

BiancaFigz So it sounds like the water goes in the bowl with the food, then it uses the microwave function to heat the water to steam. We were hoping it didn’t use the microwave, but had a separate heating element to create steam. Thank you. We haven’t been able to find a clear answer anywhere, but you helped!

Yes exactly. The manual mentions a sensor but to me, it functions just like any other microwave when it comes to steaming. No problem!

It is not vented to the outside as far as I can tell. We just bought this house 4 months ago and there’s no visible tube to the outside. The vent is fairly loud on the high setting but it’s still effective on the other 2 lower settings if you wanted it quieter

Love this microwave looks very nice to look at. My house came with the stove and microwave so I couldn’t choose but i still like. Love the bloopers at the end 😂

We left the metal rack in for 2 years while using the microwave then one day it sparked so we stopped. Not sure what you mean by dishes

I think it works pretty well. It has a low, medium, and high setting. It does a decent job at keep moisture and smokiness low

@@BiancaFigz do you notice a definitive “hissing” sound when it’s on the medium fan setting? I got it installed yesterday and notice this annoying buzz sound over the fan sound. High sound high but med I feel something doesn’t sound right and to a lower extent on low. I’m getting my sales agent to send a GE technical rep to come and check it for me.

Is there anything special in the install? My microwave runs, but doesn't heat.

Hello I recently purchased the microwave and am waiting for the range this summer. My question has to do with the Med/Low fan settings. I am noticing a discernible hissing sound from the fan that is quite annoying at the Med setting. I had the first microwave replaced and the second also had that sound. Next step as the authorized technician came today and acknowledged the sound, is to replace the fan. Have you noticed anything abnormal with the fan on Med and Low? Feb 18, 2023. UPDATE: The so-called Cafe/GE technician came to see the microwave to validate that the fan on all settings but more pronounced under the MED, LOW setting's was making an abnormal sound. He DID validate and next step is to order a new fan. I told him that this unit was already recently replaced and his thought was that we replace with a new fan and if its a defect in the Microwave then the retail shop I purchased from has offered a full refund or credit to my account. I would be disappointed as I have the range coming in June and had purchased the fridge also. I will update after the new fan install. My recommendation to people is to see and try out as best you can appliances at a show room before purchasing.

@@BiancaFigz sounds to me then that for sure the two microwaves I had installed both perhaps had issues. The sound is the same as that microwave megatron sound. But why would that sound be present when all I’m doing is using the fan is my thinking. I’ll update back when the new fan gets installed. Thanks a bunch for getting back. ✊

It’s not wifi. It’s the chef connect button that connects the oven/stove top to the microwave. I would check the manual

No keypad may be a good thing. We have had keypads go bad a number of times from moisture getting in and overheating over time from range top.

The interior of this product is stainless steel (my favorite), a metal, not enamel or plastic, and is not cheap.
