Great Video. But a doubt. What is that reddish region in the centre? What does it represent?

I'm having trouble grasping an example of rule 1 found in a book GDT application and interpretation 6th edition Bruce A. Wilson. Chapter 5 (form tolerances): The part is to be .875 +-.005 with a surface straightness callout of .005, if made at .878 (.002 away from MMC), why is it required that the surface straightness be within .002 and not .005? (It is possible that the straightness can deviate away from MMC and still meet the size tolerance). This one has been driving me crazy. What am I missing here?

@@quintgdt8751 (You said: "if straightness is called out it gets added to the allowed tolerance".) Here you are describing virtual condition correct? Back to my example, .880 (MMC) + .005 surface straightness = .885 (virtual condition)? I appreciate the quick response. I trust(ed) the book because the guy who wrote it is also GDTP certified by ASME but I'll take your advice and refer to the spec. Wish you can see the example...(it may be the way its explained or my misinterpretation of it) any way I can send you a screenshot? 😁

I think Bruce A. Wilson ("B.A. Wilson" The Boeing Company) the guy who wrote the book I am reading is part of the Y14.5 committee. See page viii of the spec.
