This video right here!!!!!!! First we start with Dusty Rhodes wondering who Uvalde Slim was then we get the ICONIC Mr. Wrestling II/Assassin #1 importance of the mask promo which brings on the return of the original Mr. Wrestling....Tim Woods....this is GCW history folks

Gordon Solie was the best Wrestling Announcer bar none.. He had the skills to make Wrestling really exciting.. To bad we dont have this kind of Wrestling anymore.. Glad I was able to witness this at the time that it was happening..

Good stuff RIP #2 Thanks for all the memories when i was growing up and watching on Saturdays.
The Assassin like Ole Anderson knew exactly what to do and say to get the most heat and that is what made them so hated and so good at what they did. True legends!
Whenever Gordon Solie said "WAIT A MINUTE...." you knew shit just got real.

Gordon Solie was brilliant in moderating the Assassin/Wrestling II debate. Look at his mannerisms and facial expressions when the insults go back and forth lol.
The Assassin's promo is so good. Especially that condescending tone on "Oh my. Aren't we becoming emotional."

The ORIGINAL Cerebral Assassin . Triple H steals from some very good sources . The mutton chop mustache and high knee smash he got from Ole Anderson and The Mind games from Flair and The Assassin . I noticed a few other homages in Trips' style . One thing that stands out is that hia style in more Soythern than a guy who grew up watching Bob Backlund wrestle in the Garden seems likely to be .
Gordon was at his best when he was interviewing the Assassin and II, His facial expressions were money!!!
glad to see this watched the original broadcast in 1980
Dusty could bring it on the mic! Among the best.
If only they would revitalize the Mask generation. 2019 Mr. Wrestling 1 & 2 vs The Assassins In the upcoming Wrestlemania The Super Stars 1 & 2 vs The Super D'$ Or The Spoilers vs The Nightmares The Infernos vs The Mask Medics. What a EPIC time That was.

Patrick...I would love to see The Assassins 1 & 2 wrestle The Grapplers w/Don Carson as The Grapplers original manager. NOW THAT WOULD MAKE ME BUY TICKETS AGAIN & SPIN MY MONEY!!! I'm not wasting my time or money anymore on WWE...AT ALL!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
You can't get better than Assassins vs Mr. Wrestling 1, and Mr. Wrestling ll. Assassins talked rough and rude, but at times, would speak eloquently, with the restraint of a professional hitman. They brought in the fans. They knew how to push the emotional buttons - get the audience riled. The Assassin's feud with Big Ray Candy, hometown Hero - were also epic.

Funny you should mention "hitman". Bob Roop was Eddie Graham's (Tampa FCW NWA) "hitman" until Dick Slater showed up for a tryout. Then he was Eddie's "hurtman". There was some real monsters in the NWA days that could hurt you just by farting in your direction. Many of them were "catch" wrestlers like the Shamrocks, Ruas, and Josh Barnett of MMA fame. The real fighters and stretchers like Danny Hodge, Stu Hart, Billy Robinson, et al were certified bone-breakers.
I remember watching this and couldn't wait for friday night at the municipal auditorium. Good times

Abraham...you are absolutely right. Vince McMahon & the WWE only wish they could get fan pops & hysteria like this. This is an era of Wrestling I miss so much...the 70s & 80s territory days. This is an era of Wrestling when the wrestlers looked real...they looked like they just walked out of a bar & were ready to fight anyone!!! No lightshow, no silly gimmicks, no entrance music...no goofy costumes...JUST REAL WRESTLING!!! I'm so glad that NWA Power attempting to bring this "REAL RASSLIN" back today in this time, because God knows that I am, as well as a lot of other Wrestling fans, sick of the WWE. Much love from Mobile Alabama.
mr. wrestling II had a clip-on tie...awesome!
Dusty one of the best at constantly pointing fingers at everyone and not stopping.
KRISZ891979.....thank you for posting all this great classic wrestling footage- very good footage. Some of the best on the web.
Kris, you are doing the Lord's work. Thank you for these videos.

Michael Seay I also remember this too. It was 1980 I think. This was REAL WRESTLING...NO RING ENTRANCE MUSIC, NO SILLY-ASS GIMMICKS, NO LIGHT SHOW. Just Real Wrestlers coming to the ring and Real Fans booing and cheering. I grew up in Dothan Alabama and Southeastern Championship Wrestling with Ron Fuller, Robert Fuller, Bob Armstrong, Austin Idol, Jimmy Golden, Arn Anderson & Jerry Stubbs. I could go on and on with the Real WRESTLERS that spent time in the area. I remember Hulk Hogan's 1ST match in Dothan Alabama...but then he was Terry "The Hulk" Bolder and his brother was Eddie Bolder a.k.a. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. Ox Baker, Ric Flair, Andre The Giant, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk were just a few big stars that spent time in Dothan Alabama. Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair & Ox Baker were 3 of the nicest WRESTLERS I ever got to meet. They loved the fan and would talk to the fans after the matches...especially the older fans like my grandpa and small kids...THEY WERE ALL CLASS ACTS. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ERA OF WRESTLING LIKE THE 70s & 80s...NEVER

I love how the took the assassins mask after they took wrestling 2s mask earlier and wrestling 2 comes out with a wrestling number 1 loaner mask on. 2 really only looked good in that white and black mask but boy did he have a hot temper for real
Just this 5-10 minute segment between 2 & Assassin could bring as much heat as WWE tries for months to build up. CLASSIC!!

@@lesliemiros6743 My Dad used to wear a clip on. (He was a Preacher) I don't think he ever learnt how to tie a tie. I think he was also abit Paranoid of wearing a regular tie for some reason. I was a teenager before I learnt how to tie one. The Sunday school teacher I had then taught me how. He told me he was showing me the only way he knew. He said he learnt how in the Marines.

Lol, man in the 70s it was all about convenience. We didn't have time to tie a tie, and most places didn't have air conditioning, so short sleeves were accepted, so we're terrible polyester leisure suits, which were a creation straight from satan, along with polyester tires. Yep we made our clothes and tires out of the same polyester. It was a sad decade in so many ways, but fun nonetheless.
White,Black,and Crimson
Now that was entertaining.

This is the pinnacle of wrestling interviews/trauma/revenge. If this hadn't been executed with precision, it could have killed pro wrestling. Good job Johnny, Ole, Jody, and Gordon. Too bad the McMahons couldnt understand the complexities of it all. They turned wrestling into a Marvel comic. Hate all you millinials never got the chance to see Ox Baker or Dick Slater at your local high school gym. By the time you were born, wrestling had become a parody of itself. Vince turned it into a mail order bride that had scabies and gonorreah, and he still wanted you to pay a premium to watch Gordon Ramsey make shit salad.
