Gazans in Rafah celebrate after Hamas approves truce proposal
Gazans celebrate in Rafah after Hamas has approved a ceasefire proposal by mediators Egypt and Qatar to halt Israel's war on Gaza.
Despite Israel's contention that the proposal does not fully meet its demands, Hamas' political bureau member Khalil al-Hayya confirms its approval.
According to Al-Hayya, the proposal comes in a three-stage truce lasting 42 days.
The Qatari-Egyptian initiative includes the exchange of Israeli captives for Palestinian captives, a complete cessation of military activities in Gaza, and, finally, post-war reconstruction overseen by the UN, Egypt, and Qatar.

Hamas didnt consult with Israel. Kinda hard for a cease fire to go into effect if you dont negotiate with the other side.
