I know right? In the end it isn't about beliefs, it's about empathy and convenience. If she thought about it maybe she'd realize the hurt people who divorce and get remarried felt back when divorce was taboo, is the same hurt her daughter feels. It comes from the same place.

I am white but i always thought the saying "gay is the new black" was disrespectful because there are black people who are gay too. A gay white person can say "oh I am not gay I am straight" if they face discrimination but a gay black person can't do that because they will still face racism.

A way to close this argument. They say we choose. Ask them "how about you choose, choose to be gay.... You can't can you because it disgusts you, you don't want that, you don't want to live that way being romantically involved with the same sex. Well it's a two way road. We can't choose to be straight because it disgusts us, the idea of sleeping and kissing the opposite sex just like it does you. The only difference is between us is that you forbid us to do things that you do, we don't forbid from doing anything."

I'm religious, and I think everyone should be able to marry whomever they want. I can't believe people don't realize this. NOT EVERYONE IS CHRISTIAN!! Do NOT force YOUR religious beliefs on other people. You can quote the bible all you want. If you think it's wrong, don't do it. But, don't tell other people what they can or can't do. People need to realize that this is America, not a big church. Even the Pope says he doesn't judge. It's called tolerance, and more people need to learn it.

Tina Urban Thank you for saying this. I live in Michigan where there are alot of bigots, and most Christians are against it. I think the reason people think it's all Christians is because you don't really see athiest or muslims saying these things. Or they don't show it.

I am a gay man and I could not watch this without tears. But I cried out of PITY. Pity for these ignorant people who use scripture as a shield so that they don't have to take responsibility for their hateful, oblivious, close-minded opinions and existence. That guy who made a very emotional tearful statement had the guts to stand up to that cold-hearted woman who sat there with a pitiful SMILE on her lips, deflecting everything he said. How dare she...? Still, I don't hate them. I am done with hatred - hatred is never something to be proud of, to make a statement with. It is a shameful and weak emotion. I pity them instead, and wish for them to wake up one morning and GET it, to UNDERSTAND. I don't hate Christianity and that does not conflict with anything said there in that show, because those people are no true Christians. They just aren't. I am so very blessed to live in Sweden, where gay people already have almost all the same rights as straight people and where progress is steadily made, in the right direction. I wish for America what we have here: one love, one people, and, if you so wish: unity under God. In harmony. Peace.

I almost laughed when the mother said that she believed in "traditional" marriage and yet that man she is with is husband number two... I'm pretty sure divorce is a big no no. At least as far as I know it is. One sin isn't any greater than another and judgment is also a sin, so bam there are two sins right there. Learn some tolerance.

When will people realize that the comparison of gay rights and black rights is brought upon by the simple fact that civil rights is important to both causes. I agree it is not right to compare the actual years of struggle of a race to another groups unchangeable orientation. However, we can compare the actual struggle of acceptance in both communities. Furthermore, the lady is wrong for when saying that no gay person is being hung. Recently Iran executed a few men for being homosexual. Yes it was in a different country but our community is struggling still here. Both communities should work together and fight each others causes.

no we can not compare. in this day and age, gays are more accepted than black people. if you are gay and white, you are more accepted than someone who is straight and black. why doesn't the gay community speak on the majority of people who are faced with violence, are non white gays? also if you are black, there is a higher chance that you will be more accepted if you are gay. also i've hear stories of black gay men facing more discrimination from other gay people, because of their race. do not ever compare gay to black. as black people we are being attacked at a much higher rate, and we need to look out for ourselves, and work together within OUR community.

Mental instability? Seriously? I hate the fact that these people think being gay is a choice. I WISH more than anything I could choose to be straight. Hating yourself is something that some people choose?! I can't deal with people who think the bible tells everyone how to live. My values have nothing to do with the bible because I'm not religious and neither are thousands of other Americans, so why do some say the bible should be used to dictate our life choices? There are billions of other world religions and religions following one book aren't the entirety. As far as "gay is the new black" is concerned, it's strange to me. I can never begin to understand what the black community went through, and not all has been solved, but I do know that the issue of civil rights is still very relevant for ALL of us. Humans.

I feel the same way as Sam does. I mean I wasn't offended or anything, its just hard to understand how other minority are put through the same shit, but their only interest is being helpful to themselves. Being black and gay myself, I know what its like. And that taught me to believe in people as a whole. I believe that all people are equal and show be treated as such, unless they murder people or something else outlandish. I'd expect anyone, minorities specifically, to relate to these denial of rights and stand up for one another. Otherwise, its hard to defend your reasoning for wanting rights, if you want to deny other people of them, why do you deserve them?

+Lord Nick Jewish people were oppressed does that stop them from being racist? Latino's are discriminated against does that stop them doing it to blacks? Asians are discriminated against does that stop them from being racist to blacks? Muslims are discriminated against does that stop them being racist? The LGBT face discrimination does that mean there is no racial divide? And lastly when have you ever seen white gays march for/with blacks or express any public outrage when a black person faces racial injustice? "its just hard to understand how other minority are put through the same shit, but their only interest is being helpful to themselves." No one cares about black people, all we have is ourselves.

  • @ImJerkBoii

    @ImJerkBoii

    8 жыл бұрын

Debbie Deb Deb That's actually my point. In order for REAL change to occur as quickly as possible,I believe all minorities or people who are treated unjustly should stand up and fight for the right of ALL of us. Not just rights for their specific minority. But as you said, the problem is that people who are victims of injustices tend to appropriate the same injustices against other people facing same or similar problems. There is no unity because people are too selfish to stand up for one another. Largely, humans only want to live in comfort for themselves and those they love. And once they get that, they don't give a damn about the struggles of other people. THAT is what needs to change. And I have seen plenty of white gays march for black people. They may not be flamboyant and "in your face" but gay all the same. Just because you can't "see" it, doesn't' mean it isn't there. A lot of white people march with black people all the time, some of the them are bound to be gay. "No one cares about black people, all we have is ourselves" That statement simply is not true. As I stated above, white people ( and people of MANY different backgrounds ) help in our fight against injustice. And honestly, it takes a lot more than just the minority at hand to make a change. If ONLY black people stand up for black people, no one will pay attention. But when multiple people of different backgrounds came together in hopes of helping one minority, that's when real change occurs. And that is true for any minority.

I do feel like the gay is the new black thing is a bit extreme, but the struggle that both sides have to face is equal. Us blacks once were discriminated against based on beliefs, and gays faced that same dilemma. So I get the point about how if anyone, would be the group to help us gays, it would be the black community. But personally, I don't need legal validation to show my love for someone. Like the guy said, it's simply the legal benefits that come with marriage that everyone wants.

I'm 100% straight and I could argue my point for hours on end???not gonna! but could. I personally don't believe sexuality is a choice. I didn't choose to like girls. Anyways i dont understand why you think its okay to allow people to destroy themselves to hide who they are when there are years of their lives being thrown to thhe wind just so you people can have your way? Since when is that okay? I see where there are some similarities between homophobia and racism and how they could compare it. But yall dont have the right to use the fact thhat African Americans were hanged in the sixties as your argument any more than homosexuals do to use their consistent bullied cases as an excuse either. In my opinion as a christian i dont believe that homosexuals go to hell for that reason. If they go to hell at all its becos after hearing all the stereotypes, half of me probably just give up, say to heck with it and just let go. This is all my opinions and I'm not going to try to argue against anyone or try to convince you against your beliefs but I'm pretty sure there's one thing we can all agree on... We're all human. And dont even get me started on the whole mental disorder thing. You're all perfect, everyone of you are perfect in your own ways. ==EQUALITY==

This is absolutely disgusting. The idea that people would CHOOSE to be gay aka choose to be hated. Choose to be targeted for abuse or physical harm. Choose to be alienated by their family whom they love with all their heart. No one would choose a life of pain. I know many people who would have wished they were straight because of how much they hurt and struggled with accepting themselves or being accepted by others. People KILL THEMSELVES over being gay because they’re afraid of or tired of the hate and discrimination.

We are constantly told that being gay is a choice because supposedly some people have stopped being Gay. If that is true then we should consider being black a choice too as there are people who have had chemical treatments, laser procedures and specific surgeries that have lightened their skin. Being gay is a choice because some people have supposedly "recovered" then being black is a choice because procedures exist to lighten your skin.

there ISNT a comparison of EQUAL LEVELS HERE... its not about which one is more than the other.. plain and simple this is about GOD GIVEN FROM BIRTH! god made blacks black. its not thier fault they were born black,, but they went thru hell anyways with slavery and civil rights movement.. (which i think the name civil rights, shouldve specified BLACK RIGHTS MOVEMENT...bc homosexual agendas/issues today IS a civil issue.. since when does CIVIL mean BLACK!? its doesnt. it means CIVILIAN RIGHTS!) BUT us gay, are also born into something we did not choose, ask for, nor wanted... BUT we have it anyways and there should be no way in hell that just bc u cant see it, it is different than being black. WE BOTH were born with something god gave us, something that is prejuduced against, something that is not the norm/different. we're not saying that we have it harder today than black in slavery. NOPE! not at all... were simply saying, gay is to us, what the black is to blacks. u CANNOT CHANGE IT!

Hiding my sexuality was actually very painful. I felt lonely because I knew no one would understand me and scared because I grew up in a religious environment and thought my family would hate me. Hiding my sexuality could be an advantage but the thing is I don't want to hide who I truly am and I don't want to keep on pretending to be someone I'm not (heterosexual). I wear rainbow not to shove my sexuality in people's faces but as a reminder that I won a battle within myself and am no longer a prisoner of my fears. But I understand what you're saying, racial discrimination and homosexual discrimination are both on different levels.

This is great whether or not you think homosexuality is wrong or right if we look into the bible we can see that god says to choose you own path you might not agree but you have to still treat everyone with respect and love because everyone is human. Personally I support the LGBT community but even if I didn't everyone is entitled to live life the way they want as long as its not hurting others.

It's ironic because they praise the bible, yet they judge those that just want to be treated as a human being. It's in humane how they say it's a choice. Unless you truly UNDERSTAND the complexity of being a gay, lesbian, trans etc, you do NOT have the right to say it's a choice. Being a 15 year old proud and bisexual young woman, I know damn well it was not a choice for me to love both sexes. Gays (etc.) are being bashed on for there lifestyle, how in the world can you sit here and tell me that being gay was a choice?! I'm pretty sure that they did not choose to be gay. You need to ask yourself, would YOU choose to live a life of struggle, isolation, stress, depression, and being completely un loved the minute you wake up? I thought we were all Gods children, to be loved. Yet everyday I wake up, and there is some person out there still being hurt verbally and physically because of the way that live there life.

EVERY BIBLE was written by man so who really knows the word of our lord (regardless or what ever religion you follow, or what ever bible is write ) we are made by the same creator If he did not want us to be gay he would not make anel sex pleasurable for men and the the cilt to be the most pleasurable sex organ for females . dont for get the g stop is only two inches inside the vagina . so if gay sex was wrong god would not allow us to feel pleasure . do some research be fore you star spewing hate hunny Mason Jesse (high five ) Man you are RIGHT !!! How about us gays just come together and make up our own damn religion. Well call it "Equalism" or another name. Well make our own concept of marriage so when we want to marry, our concept of marriage doesn't infringe upon theirs ! This might sound stupid but it makes sense ! So when the straights are like "omg that's not a real marriage my religion says so!" We'll say "fuck ur religion ours says we can marry whatever gender we want!"

The reason why Tyra did this episode was her attempt to argue this IN FAVOR of her LGBT friends and associates throughout her modeling career, in which the fashion industries have many people that are themselves LGBT. She did not even the panelists who differ from LGBT worldviews have equal say, she cut them off before allowing them to speak from start to finish. This is not a "civil or equal" rights issue.

Oh how this episode made me cringe. The nerve of the opposing side was unbelievable. I could not believe they were adults. You do not wake up and say, "I want to be gay" It just doesn't happen. Science has proven the fact that people can be and are born gay due to they extra Y or X chromosome in the DNA strands. If these opposing adults were educated at all, they would know this simple and proven fact. I am not gay, but I fully support the LGBT community. This is a real life issue here with real people and real feelings. We are all only human. We all deserve the same rights whether its marriage for Gays, Blacks, Straights, Whites, Hispanics, Asians. There shouldn't even be a racial issue here like everyone brought up, because this has nothing to do with race. I honestly believe that the gay community is being more brutally ridiculed for being gay than blacks were back in the day for being black. A black family didn't/doesn't shove their children away from them because they were/are black. Many parents of gay children/teens/ adults have nothing to do with them once they come out of the closet. Both times of discrimination were and are very vicious, but I don't believe comparing the two is fair.

I don't understand how Lindsay's mom can't see that her daughter married someone she loves just put the sexuality aside for a moment Lindsay found someone who makes her happy, someone she loves and wants to be with the rest of her life and her mom brings in her religion but she her future husband in her house when her daughter was 15 and didn't the bible say that is a sin as well. Nice double standard huh and she's being bias about her daughter hmm something sounds fishy their

Regardless of your religion, you should support equality. It's not your decision whether two consenting people should get married. You don't have to marry someone of your gender yourself, you don't even have to attend a same-sex service but you absolutely should support other people's right to do so. Christianity isn't an excuse for homophobia.

People can do whatever they want. God gave us free will but what I dislike is when people try to justify sin and even completely deny that the act is a sin. Marriage is a biblical term and its supposed to be between a man, God, and a woman. My thing is how can God bless a marriage that He doesn't approve of? I don't believe that God intended for same sex people to be together but we still are supposed to love and not treat them any less than no matter their lifestyle. What gays/lesbians are doing isn't any more of a sin than what I've done or anybody else because we all sin. We all were born into sin but I don't think they should call it marriage, why not call it a civil union? Alternately the word marriage is something that is biblical.

You can't be gay and Christian you just can't say the bible teaches love you can't cherry pick what the bible teaches. 1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. John 7:24 Don't judge the appearance but judge righteously Revelation 3:15-16 So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth Leviticus 18:22 No man shall lay with another man
