I was told the story of when at the 1982 Grammys - the year Barry sang the duet with Barbara Streisand - later than night the Gatlin Bros went to Barry Gibbs's suite at the NY Hilton and they sat around singing old Bee Gee/Gatlin songs and others oldies. Rudy Gatlin missed being there as he had taken a friend to dinner. This was the initial connection. Then around 1984 Larry went to Barry's place in Florida where they wrote Indian Summer together. When singing one of the lines Barry commented, "this would be a great song for Roy Orbison". Larry said, "well let's call him, I've got his number!". And the rest is history - and this amazing video with some of the best voices ever recorded, and a beautifully written song by Barry Gibb and Larry Gatlin. With nearly 6 million views, I think many agree.

Over 7.5 million now…. Part of MUSIC we never see or hear about. Music does make the world go round. Music is the Universal language. Even the Stars sing to each other. I'll bet that was a thrill! This truly should have been release long ago.. No doubt it would have been a mainstream hit. As far as I know, it only exists on video online. When I speak with Larry next I'll ask and verify.

I am a old 74 year old man I found this song about two weeks ago. I can’t believe I’ve never heard before. What a song with Roy Orbison singing Etta with the Gatlin Brothers and Barry Gibb. Barry Gibb is humble and very kind. But having written over 1000 songs for some of the most famous singers in the world, as well as having a career spanning 65 years, it seems a bit strange to say Barry Gibb was star struck by Larry Gatlin. Maybe he was just having a great time working with fellow artists. Same goes for his new album Greenfields. He has said he really enjoyed working w/country artists that he admires. That doesn't make him "Star struck." No one loves the BeeGees more than I do. But, I don't assume that I know what they r thinking or claim to know everything about them.

The notes that Orbison can hit in normal voice are ethereal!

I've always loved listening to this performance. But seeing the four guys singing with Roy adds another layer of beauty. I love it when Larry Gatlin turns and puts his hands on the shoulders of Barry and Roy! OMG!!! Five hyper-talented men all in perfect harmony! Truly a Tour de Force performance! BRAVISSIMO!!!

@@solepropt I've never heard Barry Gibb saying that Roy Orbison was one of his idols. The brothers said they liked the every brothers & Bb King, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rodgers, Michael Jackson. I can't think of any interview, or any documentary I've ever seen where any of the Gibb Brothers said Roy Orbison was an idol of theirs.

Roy Orbison has a terrific voice but his face and body doesn't bring the passion to this song the way Larry and Barry do!

Their voices blend together great!

I've just begun to rediscover the BeeGee music. So, many ive never heard before to include this one. What a talented group. Wonderful, soulful, delightfully original. Barry always looks so happy, smiles. He and his brothers have a legacy of great and meaningful classics. Alone, I will...So many too count. Thank you for bringing this out again 40 years later. Still relevant and wonderful.

Beautiful ! - what voices - and my much loved Roy Orbison!

My grandmother was born in 1891 and loved Roy Orbison's voice...extra octave

This was perfect and an example of what professional vocalist at the top of their game can produce. The video was great because it showed that they had put egos aside and were having a great time making great music together.

One of the best songs I’ve ever heard., and I’m 72. Great tune, great voices and wonderful words and harmonies. Victor from Australia.

I agree!!! I really enjoyed this song and presentation by great talent. Barry Gibb needs to be happy- he wrote a lovely song with great harmonies and a lot of tenor tones sung with some of the best singers and they're having a relaxed wonderful time- wished making beautiful music with heavenly tones didn't have to end. It's always a dream come true for humble songwriters to hear their composed songs come to life from the artists they intended it for, while they were creating them. Barry & his brothers, as gifted as they are, with awesome & unique vocals & harmonies, considered themselves foremost, as SONGWRITERS. Pretty cool!
