I lived in Gatineau for 3 years and 7 years in Ottawa, before moving back to Singapore. Gatineau has some of the friendliest, most polite and cool happy-go-lucky people on this planet. It is a beautiful slow paced city surrounded by a lot of natural beauty. If only summers were longer....I'd stay forever but I couldn't adapt to the winters there. Miss the place and the people. I used to celebrate my birthday at the Pirate Cafe and jog along the Ottawa River in summer! Good Memories...

Thank you for sharing your story ❤ I felt the same when I was there, Gatineau is a small charming city but so lively while Ottawa is a historic royal city, and the Ottawa River runs through both cities. A beautiful place!

I didn't feel racist when I was there but maybe because my trip was just a few hours. You should still prepare for racism here but if you know French, I think you will be fine ☺
