Gathering Feral Horses On the Navajo Nation!
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
There are over 38,000 feral (or wild) horses on the Navajo Nation. My friend wanted to gather a horse herd near his house so we decide to help him out.

Yes…. Absolutely breaks my heart
Here's a little tip for you..... DON'T LET THEM TROT! Keep pushing them and get them tired. They can recharge if they are allowed to trot. And they are WAY more used to covering country than almost any saddle horse. Strategic positioning of relay riders and extra horses help keep them moving at a lope. You guys did well with the number of riders you had available.
@ShinLeeChan
Жыл бұрын
I think that the main problem in their videos is that wild mustang have far better stamina than saddle horses. I've noticed it on their video when they tried to catch an escaped adopted mustang. That mare seem to have endless stamina compared to their horses. So they can't keep pushing as they need to make the mustang tired enough to catch her. As you said, a couple of extra horses and good plans could help.

@janbernad4729
Жыл бұрын
Also probably doesnt help that the saddle horses have to carry a human and a saddle with them. Even if the two horses had identical stamina, the one carrying more things will get tired sooner.

Yup relay horses are the way to go.
A big shout out to the B&D crew for using the correct term for describing these horses, "feral". They are not "wild". Which is the most misused term when discussing these horses. Thank you for your attention to detail and knowledge of equines.

@goldybays

@juliad4654 horses are much like dogs where they are the domesticated form of wild species. All horses are domesticated and do not have a place in nature, as they decimate lands and are highly invasive. Just like a stray dog except alot more capable and dangerous.
Great job boys. Hoping this shows the folks in charge they need to get a plan for these horses and the Navajo Nation.
Congratulations on the movie! Didn't see anything in my state but I am very happy for you.

ive been watching you guys for a while now and it is very inspiring how you can do this i recently got a job at a horse farm and hopefully do roping or herding it would be so cool to experience something like this i have a horse of my own at home. not lomg till shes gone so hopefully ill get another one, one day so i can ride and feel free.
Smilez I literally thought about y'all & then a video popz up Thankyou Handsomez
I wish you guys where coming closer to the east coast, money is tight and id love to come see you guys. Good luck with the movie
You’re videos are so entertaining to watch!
Oh my, what a lot of work. Starting to mentally be prepared to get these Feral horses......then, finding them. Then, herding them, when they have been so used to free ranging, and they know the land well. Its just a shame that they are going hungry, although those 9 look pretty good to me. I just LOVE horses, have great respect for them. Thanks for all you do. Its work!! Bev in MaINE

I watched till the end and I heard you say they're going for adoption. If that's the truth then I'm so grateful to you for that and for saving the mustangs from starvation. Thank You.. You are all amazing horsemen and cowboys.
Hope you put more videos with natives out. Lol you guys did great. I know it’s not sited, but damned that has to be really tough to put wit two heardes. We’re the four that got away the news ant horses.
If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend watching "Unbranded". It's an in-depth and factual look at mustangs from various points of view.

I`d love to be able to go to support you (great deal with the swag bag!) but I live in Spain. I think the round-up was a great initiative: at least those 9 lucky horses will no longer be scavenging for food, but will end up in great homes where they will be well cared for. Great job!

Great video I know it’s easier said then done especially from a keyboard but it’s easier to relay horses if you can get enough guys .
I wish you uploaded twice a day. You content is the best
Incredible job, guys. You bring many ancestors much honor. Keeping ticking away at that 38,000, that's a strong number, but the land heals more and more with each herd you remove!
Casey’s only good at making wild noises haha 😂.. ask him he’ll know , he’ll probably jus laugh and walk away .. but we got a bunch of good looking free roaming horses where we live .. Rez crossed with quarters 👍🏼.. good video 👍🏼
Such a hard life , good luck guys
This is so dang cool. I live in cowboy country in northern az, but I’m a city boy and moved up here a year ago. I would love to learn how to ride a horse like that.
i spent a month between st george utah and salt lake city utah and i want to say about after a week, it dawned on me that im seein wild horses off of the interstates and highways.. i was like "wait there arent any fences out here. those r wild horses"
Best luck for your movie.....
