Gates McFadden (Star Trek, Labyrinth) joins us this week to share her decades worth of experience with Star Trek - from her true feelings about certain storylines, to her bond with the Next Generation cast, to her favorite reveals in Picard. After some ‘inside baseball’ talk about our shared passion for podcasting, Gates shares terrifying stories of coming face-to-face with her stocker multiple times… before there were safeguards or laws that protected women from predatory men. We also talk about her love for David Bowie, her forgotten kiss with Bill Murray, and her time working alongside muppet master Jim Henson.

    Having a stalker myself- i wish this on nobody (aside from my stalker herself) its a special kind of psychological warfare and a type of violation i cant even put into words. Law enforcement needs to do more about it, too. They do nothing. Arm up and document EVERYTHING

    That's a serious stalker to go into your neighbors apartment to confront you. As a guy I had a female stalker in college, at no time did I think I was in harm's way, but it was so creepy when and where this woman would show up and how she would find out where I was pre-social media.

    I STILL have the biggest crush on Dr. Crusher ....When Star Trek Next Generation came out for Christmas my boyfriend got me an autographed photo of Gates McFadden. He was so happy that I loved it! ...until he noticed I had replaced his picture with hers in the frame on my bedside table LOL!

    Don't ever expect to reason with a stalker. You don't know their mental state/illnesses, and you don't know what kinds of drugs they're on. If you ever come face to face with a stalker...be prepared to use lethal force to defend yourselves, and then ask questions later. It's you or the stalker. Unfortunately in most cases the stalker wins.

    Where I live if a laydee says a dude grabbed her by the hair, whether that was true or not, that dude is spending the night in jail. Then he will get to spend lots of money defending himself.

    That's legitimately scary, and what's frightening is that she's probably one of the more fortunate (?) ones in that her stalker just went away. How many people are followed for months or years by someone who effectively ruins their life and/or seriously hurts or kills them? Authorities need to take a hard line with stalking in whatever form it takes.

    Take it seriously. My father in-law, 25 years ago, heard a noise outside his house early morning just after dawn. He grabbed his shotgun, when outside and saw a man repeatedly stabbing a new neighbor with a machete. He apprehended the guy, waited for police, but she was already gone by the time he was able to stop the attack. Found out later that he was an ex boyfriend/stalker who followed her up to out state from California to get away from him. She was 24 years gold.

That's the reason why kids are being shot for committing such horrible crimes like knocking on the wrong door, or mistaking someone else's car for their own, or pulling into the wrong driveway, or asking the wrong gun nut for help, etc...

    I've been a stalker. It's like being addicted to drugs except it's a person. You just can't get enough of them. I did go to prison and was ordered to get therapy and whatever, but I still follow people around from time to time.

    Well, stop. And how is terrifying the living shite out of a person you enjoy going to benefit you or them in any way whatsoever? It doesn't. I want to do a lot of irrational, impulsive shite. But I don't. You don't have to act on every impulse. Govern yourself or go back to jail. It's simple.

  • @ktoth29

    Likewise, much like addiction, you just kinda fall into it inadvertently when you are vulnerable and it’s tough to break out of that cycle of shame and obsession.

  • @hareofsteel

    @hareofsteel

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ktoth29 But your addiction is victimizing people. I know vulnerability, man, but victimizing others for your escape is 100% unacceptable. You can learn to govern these feelings, or do something else that doesn't hurt others, or you can end up in jail, and rightly so. Your choice. Good luck. If you are stalking someone, stop right now and never do it again. I know this is easy to do because I manage it every single day of my life and there's no excuse that you can't either.
