Now here’s some good pad work! Awesome way of working combos and footwork, keeping the work rate high.

Top UK talent. Dominated the amateur scene and will probably do really well in pro scene.

Can somebody more knowledgeable please educate me, this guy has quite a wide stance and puts a lot of weight on his lead leg coming forward. How would he avoid getting leg kicked in a kick-boxing/Thai fight with a style like this that’s more favoured to traditional boxing?

after watching his fights he usually just slides out of the way of the lowkicks or counters them with a straight right

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is quite common in K1 as opposed to Muay Thai. The light lead leg always ready to teep or check in Muay Thai is more common, whereas K1 it’s not seen as much.

Firstly, Muay Thai rules are different and use different scoring. You hardly ever see MT fights where guys are this active on their feet. This is because in traditional MT, moving back is giving ground to your opponent and that looks bad in front of the judges. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but what you'll often see if nak muay's cut angles to either take the centre of the ring and push forward from there, or when evading or breaking from the clinch. The objective is to keep on pushing forward because that's what the judges in muay thai are looking for - dominance. Kickboxing/K1 rules are looking for this also, but you aren't penalised on points so much for moving back, so long as you are showing you are in control. This is why you'll see Kickboxing looks far more busy on the feet. Whereas in Muay Thai, they march forward more traditionally to blast their opponent out of the water. You also have to 'look' Thai in the way you move. There's a lot of depth to it and my comment certainly isn't doing it all justice. In Kickboxing, you'll see this also, but guys will pivot more to counter and then seek to blast their opponents out the water much the same. There's a lot to take from both, and they compliment one another very well. Of course, a fighters personal style comes into it also, but generally speaking, what I said above is what you will see.

Watching people block kicks with their arms just dumb, that should be a last resort now no..? Just lift your leg Very good padwork though

Not it you're returning with punches / kicks. K1 style not muay thai, yes it hurts on you're forearms but the aim is to catch with gloves and returning off it you'll always be scored ahead

Do you mean when he's redirecting Mick's kicks to get him to move? 🤔 I've seen that done loads of times when someone has good distance control and has timed their opponents kick so that they misdirect (parry) their kick with a little nudge, just enough to throw their opponent off balance whilst they fire straight back in with a combination or a heavy shot. Same applies with punches. You only check a kick when you need to. If you can avoid a shot then you do so, letting your opponent hit air and then you counter immediately.

@@GabGamerPTin k1 punches are scored the same as kicks, so if you return 2 punches for one kick you win the exchange.
