(greg here). an interesting contrast. Was interesting hearing the observations and pitfalls of both. never having had any sort of ev I hadn't considered the pros/cons of using one. I respect the concept of utilizing/maximizing efficiency of time when addressing the necessity of recharging. Good vid.

Good video. Really nice to see that there are car enthusiasts that think alike!

I do not understand the problem. I have a gas guzzling Land Rover and I am getting ready to buy a Polestar 2. What is wrong with having both? Both is good.

Indeed, both options have their merits, but a point I raise in this video (maybe not sufficient enough) is that modern cars often lack the unique character and soul that classic cars embody, at least from my perspective.

The problem is that barely one thinks like you and the market is moving towards leaving ICEs behind - if you've lived under a rock and don't know that

@@user-yt2vd9gz8y just because Volvo has divested themselves of Polestar does not mean they are bad. Just means that the parent company, Geely, is taking 100% of the effort now.

I drive an 2010 diesel Vito around 38,000 KM a year for my business. It has over 600 miles range on a full tank and pulls an impressive 40MPG despite having covered over 180k miles. With the cost of high cost of a lease, long journeys and the lack of availability of charging in the UK, an electric van makes no sense to my business.

The current charging infrastructure in Austria is ok and continuously improving. If that weren't the case, I might not have chosen the path I did. Once my lease contract expires, I might consider reverting to an ICE van, provided they're still available and permitted by then. 😜

EV for errands in the city, classic car with a V8 for cruising, and road trips! I own a 2011 V8 Grand Cherokee with loud pipes, I love it! Want an EV for weekends, short trips where the V8 drinks the most

EVs are quick. That's all they have going for them. Classic cars offer a much better driving experience.

So, you drive more 8-10 hours a day, every day? That doesn't do much good to one's life quality! I would pity you if it were true!

Wow, that's a lot! I guess it depends on the nature of your business. Additionally, Austria is 92 times smaller than Australia - things here are a bit scaled down 😅

I would like to watch this, but the music is just too loud and distracting. I can't focus on what is actually being said, and cranking up the volume just got me a headache. If you could please re-post this without the music (or at least keeping the music to roughly the first minute or so), that would be much appreciated.

Whilst I can see where the influence to use an EV came from, I still believe it to have been an unwise choice. Here's why... Your van is on lease, which has a cost. At the end of the lease, you have no van and no recoverable value. The van is not, and never can be, an asset. In addition, you will have had the inconvenience of being unable to deviate from a given route, lest you run out of charge. Therefore, should an excellent business opportunity arise while you're on the road, the chances are that you're going to miss out simply because you'd run out of charge and end up stranded. Had you bought an ICE van, you'd be free to do as you please without getting stranded without fuel. (You simply carry emergency fuel with you). If you sell the van after 3 years, you have cash to buy or deposit a replacement. All the time you've owned the ICE van, it has been a viable business asset too. The environmental and ecological damage caused in the building of an EV is massive and can never be recovered in the vehicle's lifetime; so unlike a normal, ICE vehicle, there is always a negative impact. I own a 2006 Lexus GS300 as my daily driver, it's very economical, (up to 43mpg) and runs exceptionally clean, so the environmental impact is not really measurable because it's so minute. I too, own a classic car. Mine is a 1988 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. 302 cu-in V8 efi power. I use it for sunny days and shows.

I completely agree with you, my decision may have been well thought out but ultimately flawed. About business asset vs. lease: I prefer the lease option, maybe because I had an instance with a very unreliable car, which let me down several times and I had to invest a lot in repairs. throughout the duration of a lease contract, and after that I get another new car, ideally one that maintains reliability throughout my "ownership". But writing this, I realize that this is surely not the most environmentally friendly option, as it involves more frequent vehicle turnover. I appreciate your advice, I will definitely keep that in mind after getting out of my current lease contract.

Sounds like a great idea 😂 Jokes aside, I'm well aware that this video won't be breaking any new ground or unveiling mind-blowing facts. My channel simply offers a European perspective on all things classic cars, with the main focus on the First-Gen Cadillac Seville.

EVs are more environmentally friendly, that has been scientifically proven many times. Batteries can be and are increasingly recycled. Try that with diesel burned in an ICE! Then why use #greenwashed? What is your message? The video mostly just sums up a number of well known facts. Enjoy your classic car, but please drive it as little as possible to spare our health and the environment. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You're absolutely right, and I won't deny any facts either. It's very important to be mindful of the environmental impact with all our choices. As I mentioned in response to another commenter, I acknowledge that leasing an EV isn't necessarily the most environmentally friendly choice due to the increased turnover of vehicles involved. I admit that the title and thumbnail might come across as controversial and clickbait. My intention was to shed light on the common negative perceptions surrounding both types of vehicles, based on conversations I've had with various individuals. Regarding driving my classic car, I realize I could have provided more insight into its usage. Over the past few years, I've only had the opportunity to take it out for a leisurely cruise about five times annually due to constraints such as limited time and favorable weather conditions.
