That is the league Bettman wanted, people just let it happen... Goons played with heart, they made the game honest. You had to play because you really loved the game, you really loved the grit and the grind. Now they play for a paycheck... And yes I am looking at Willy. 😤

The only guy on the Leafs team that others should take a close look at is Marner everyone are so tight, need to truly relax and have fun, look at the beginning the season where they were having fun. Remember guys, take your mind off wining and winning will come.

I have a Gary Roberts jersey signed and im proud of it. . Thats a bad question for that guy. Roberts was a beast. He played hard and 110% all the time. I didnt care if Roberts scored. It was exactly what he said that made him great. His forchecking his checking the responcibility in his own end. Talk about a guy being heavy with the puck. He was great. He did t have slumps because when he wasnt scoring he was amazing at evrything else. Ask Sundin what he thinks about Roberts. These 2019 leafs are great and they will eventually get out of this. They need some help from dubas but make know mistake there great.

Lets ask some questions. Why is the fanbase so critical? Why do the bad things get picked up more then the good things? That starts with a team and fanbase that has that had gotten used to being the bottom of the barrel. Losing is all the fanbase knows. This started over 30 years ago, and it starts with the top (owners and management) down. Its going to take some time and also at least a cup i think before things change around for the largest hockey club in the world.

    - And even when the team finally hits some good strides and is playing well, there are pockets of fans who still wait for another 'collapse' or something bad to happen so they can jump down the team's throat and say 'I told you so!' as if they've never, ever had confidence that the team could ever sustain a run of success. It's like some fans will avoid the team like the plague when they are doing well because they're simply waiting for the proverbial '18 wheeler going off the cliff' that they keep fearing and predicting will happen. Even with what the current management team in Toronto has built with its youthful talent & skill, some folks STILL wait to find a weakness in the team and hope it gets exposed so they can say that everything the team has been doing has been a mistake and that they have to 'blow it up' yet again and go through yet another painful 'rebuild'. This is the mindset of some folks in Toronto. You're right....they've known NOTHING besides losing and failure and believe that's where the Leafs will always end up, because...they're the Leafs. That's their identity. Plain and simple. Unfortunately.

The fanbase holds you accountable. When you're playing well, they love you. When you're not, they let you now. I don't call that "pressure", I call that being fair. I don't think anyone is asking Nylander to play like McDavid here, but he's been horrid for so long.

@@andrewm4951 He's paid and signed to score goals and contribute offensively. He could be checking people, and while that's all and good, it's not what he's been signed for and it's not who he is. But he hasn't been doing the thing we all expected him and know he's capable of doing, contribute on offense. And it's not "pressure" or unfair to hold him accountable when he doesn't deliver.

Not only do they not understand, they hate on the media and fans for the pressure, when they do not understand at all... The only way they would ever understand, is if they spent some time in the GTA... For an extended period of time. It is much like Europeans with soccer/football. When your grandpa cheered for the same team, it means so much more... BTW Gary, this Pettersson kid out in Vancouver needs you! Work your magic Gary, just like you did with McNuggets, but some meat in those bones! 💪

The pressure of having to live up to an OVER-VALUED contract? Absolutely. The only way Dubas saves face on this POS contract is for Nylander to play like he is still a RFA.

Their fanbase is putting all the pressure on them. When the organization signed Tavares this summer, the whole fanbase went cuckoo and self-proclaimed themselves as the Best team in the league. Result? The expectations are nothing less than the cup right this year. And if they can’t achieve that, it sucks for them for a simple reason. They have a lot of players in their current roster to resign soon and they won’t be able to sign them all without bursting the cap space..

If it makes sense then do it, if not sign Marner and Matthews long term and until they can make a deal that works. Their core guys are young or in still their prime years that they can afford to play the waiting game. But they should definitely look to add now.
