A chap I work with was a Roadie for Marillion back in the 80's and told me a story of how Gary was in the same hotel as them and bought all the roadies drinks for the night, saying the musicians would be nothing without them. A tale of a true gentleman, RIP Gary.

Gary is the most emotional, outstanding, the best gutarist ive ever heard. when you listen to gary moore you can feel it in your whole body. no other guitarist and musician have had such an emotional and inspirational impact on me when it comes to music. he had the speed and stamina of a metal guitarist, the emotion and licks of a blues player, and the tone from heaven. "Still got the blues"- "The Messiah Will indeed Come Again"- we miss you Gary.

I believe Gary Moore’s last music video was recorded Live At Montreux in 2010. In my view it is one of the very best music videos on KZread and his rendition of Parisienne Walkways is possibly the best he ever did. The guitar solo is breathtaking and it was almost as if he knew he wasn’t much longer for this world and wanted this to be his legacy. In a musical sense he was a genius. RIP Gary.

Wonderful trek through the graveyard. I first became aware of Gary when he was in ELP's Greg Lake's solo band. Gary did two albums with Greg and toured with him in 1981/82. I remember being gobsmacked by the young, black haired unknown to me guitarist. His talent and energy were off the chart. I became a big Moore fan at that point and followed his career in the 80's until he went full on blues...at that point I got a bit bored with one blues album after another as I much preferred the hard rock side of his playing. Parisienne Walkways is actually a blues instrumental piece called Blue Bossa, written by Kenny Dorham and performed by Joe Henderson in 1963. Phil Lynott brought it to Gary as his own piece and called it Parisienne Walkways by adding lyrics to it. You can hear Greg Lake singing it accompanied by Gary on Greg's King Biscuit Flower Hour live album which has been released several times under various titles.

Funny you say that about these guys involved within the music industry, they all seem to die young. I'm a big fan of Elvis and I've visited Graceland in Memphis 4 times now. All my favourite artists have died young especially the likes of Luther Vandross and Marvin Gaye. I always think their deaths deprive us because music is such an effect on emotions . Nicely done. Rest In Peace, Gary Moore. I remember that night i got the news pretty vividly. The Packers had just won the Super Bowl and i was stoked. Short time later, get the news of Gary's passing. Crushed ! Fired up and blasted my bedroom/jam stereo for Back On The Streets with tears in my eyes. For me, it started with TL's Black Rose. Toughest Street In Town blew me away. Still does. Followed him there after, seeing him at Wolfgangs for Wild Frontiers. Almost lost it during Military Man a song Phil Lynott sang on. Another cool memory was an interview i read with Randy Rhoads where he shared a story about tracking the solos for Mister Crowley and Ozzy's after him, "What are you doing! Just play what you feel!!!" The part he was working on was the 'bridge' before the last solo. This was inspired by Gary's "Parissiene Walkways". Randy loved the song. Learned later he and Gary became friends and Randy asked Gary for advice about joining up with Ozzy. I miss them both.

What a player Gary was. Ireland's finest, with Rory Gallagher. Have you been to Phillip Lynott's grave yet? Let's pay our respects to Irish Rock.

@@leehambleton9919 I saw Rory a few times in London and The Gerry McAvoy Jam a few times too. One of the best nights of my life was in 1978 when Rory played The Bridge House in Canning Town as part of his 'Photo Finish' album tour. Absolutely jam packed, sweaty and with that almost now forgotten smell of beer and fags. Of such nights are our lives remembered. Apparently when Hendrix was asked by a journalist "What's it like being the best guitarist in the world?' He replied "Don't ask me ask Rory Gallagher". Gary and Rory, the two greatest players ever. 👏

Gary was a phenomenal guitarist, Im 52 and grew up with his hard rock days in the 80s. Being Irish myself wild frontier was a classic album. Over the hills and far away with the chieftains, he had this ability to merge Irish traditional music with rock which was very unique. His solo on out in the fields blew me away. His stint with Lizzy on the black rose album which is one of their best. Then he turned back to the blues and was brilliant at that. I never had the chance to see him live and wish I had, he played with such fire and passion from the heart.. Rip Gary and really nice video too... Oh I remember an interview he did years ago about all these highly technical guitar players at the time, that he said used to go school to learn to play guitar and he said he never got that and learned because he didn't want to go to school! Never be another guitarist like him definitely one of the worlds best.

I’ve visited his grave at the town of Rotting Dean. Nice pub within walking distance. My favourite track is Your Love. I did request you do a video of Gary … but then I found that you had already done one. Some fabulous comments which I totally agree with. On another Channel … Wings of Pegasus, Fils analysis of his playing is worth a watch. Like me, he is a big fan of Gary. Thank you.
