True that.. Other factors involved. The tone wood is there with the Epiphones but the wiring harnesses and the winding of the pickups are sub par. I picked up a Epi Wildkat hollow body with the Chinese wiring harness and sub par pickup winding of the P-90`s. Upgraded the wiring harness pot switches etc. sent my pickups out to be wound to vintage specs and now have a phenomenal ... custom built up Epi with solid vintage tone that I`ll never sell. I took a 500$ Epi, sank about 350$ into it (Bigsby upgrade as well) and now have a beautiful guitar that will stand up to 3000$ guitars in a blind test. I can dive bomb the Bigsby and it will hold tune. Pickups are not microphonic and I can control the feedback. I love the art of controlled feedback. Clean tones are vintage quality. Don`t knock the Epiphones. They can be modified and built up to your personal preference. I got the limited edition wildcat with a solid Hawaiian Koa top mahogany body and rosewood finger board... The Chinese pickup wraps and wiring harness are garbage. Built up.... and this is an unbelievably high quality guitar with vintage tone that I will never sell. It is absolutely beautiful in every way. Add a boutique tube amp or a good Fender amp and it is like GOD is talking through this instrument. I`ve got a real Les Paul standard and an Eric Johnson strat... And I`m grabbing my Epiphone 80% of the time.
@ErroneousTheory

You can get used gibson pickups on reverb or ebay and then a good epi will sound indistinguishable. Did that with an eastman and it sounds like a memphis at 1/3 the price.

You can get used gibson pickups on reverb or ebay and then a good epi will sound indistinguishable. Did that with an eastman and it sounds like a memphis at 1/3 the price.

Ryan Chadwick It's not a chibson. It's an Epiphone. And Epiphone is not a made in China cheap version of Gibson,it's a company that has given historically guitar models to a lot of great musicians
Esse cara pra mim bate o Hendrix, talento, técnica e sem droga pesada que estragou muita gente.
I think John Mayer started with pop music. And I dont really see the problem with it.

John Mayer started as a blues player which later became Pop .
He plays the blues better than John Mayer for sure.

I think they both play it well, just different vibes to the blues. I actually live like 10 mins away from GCJ

I do prefer gary, but Mayer is way more skilled
Smokin. Let's hope he doesn't go down the John Mayer path into pop music.
why the fuck do you mix Clark whit the other burritos?
no, that's miles away man...sorry to say. He can play, maybe he should find his own sound.
This is not an Eric Clapton cover in no kind of way.
Definitely not anything to do with Eric Clapton. I swear some of you cats thinks SRV and Clapton invented to blues when all they did is cheapen it and cheese it up.

Ok pal are you having a bad day? When you don"t like something find something you do like. Life's too short. I mean you not only didn't like it you wasted your time talking about it. Go play it the way you like it. Then see if someone trolls you.
Nope.
I'm sorry, but this sounds like a garage band with a third year guitar student in the lead.
