I like that fight alot, and I would favor Matias with a 8 round stoppage. I think Russell wins the 1st half, begins to tire, and then starts to take punishment till he's TKOed.

I wouldn’t even say it’s politics just an injury which is common !he’s in the mix for a title shot against Devin or Regis ! I feel like he should do what Frank Martin just did and get active with some of the other sanctioning bodies and fight title eliminators on that side ! Frank is the top guy for Shakur and Tank now ! eventually it’s no ducking he can get a shot at either belt ! Gary A. should try an IBF contender for Matias belt or a WBA contender for the winner of Rolly vs Ryan bc he already in the the top 5 for Regis vs Devin ! He’s about two fights away from being officially back in the mix fr 💯

Gary is good...ranked no.2 by the WBC behind Sandor Martin..ranked 14 by the IBF..has a solid amateur background..comes from a well known boxing family but he still fighting in front of 100 people??😮😮😮..dude has to negotiate for an undercard opportunity in a popular fight. Time is not on his side..he is 28..

THE BOXING WORLD IS SOUND ASLEEP ON GARY A RUSSELL JR. HE CAN COMPETE WITH ANYONE AT 140. 1

He was pushed back to this level because of his performances vs Postol and then Barthelemy. In both outings he looked lackluster, and vs Barthelemy he took a step back even in a win. Same with Brandun Lee, who even in wins shows glimpses of things to come at the next level. Russell is a more refined version of Shawn Porter, but I wouldn't favor him vs the top guys anymore. He'd beat Sandor Martin probably, but not Teo, Ramirez Prograis, or even Barboza at this stage. He got his shot on good cards and just wet the bed. He'll get more shots on undercards, but will need to be spectacular to become a headliner.

His aggression is like porter but he has way more power then porter he get great leverage on his power punches and he has quick feet that goes right along with his aggression so he able to get to you really fast I think he beats everyone at 140 except teo you have to have great counter skills with power to beat him in my opinion which teo Possesses

Gary should go to 135 and fight Isaac Cruz or George Kambosos. Maybe he can face Jack Caterral at 140 lbs since no one else is trying.

He’s ranked third in the WBC, I think once the rankings are announced he’ll be the mandatory challenger because the #2 guy just lost. But if Devin wins they are gonna try to fight Teo after they fight Regis, if Regis wins then Antunne should get him next

The first knockdown you are suppose to send the fighter to the neutral corner, not to the red corner. He should have pointed Russell to either neutral corner and then after the 8 count, have Kent walk to the other neutral corner to show he had legs to continue. Instead, he had Russell in the red corner when either his or the opponents coaches were at while his back was to him counting. Amateur refs are made not to make that mistake. Yea, it may seem minor, but he will never get the call for big fights if he can't control that small part of a boxing match.

Its a liver shot!

More fighters are realizing that the kidney shot is a much easier route to victory. Head shot are extremely hard on your hands. Remember, Floyd Jr. won his first pro bout with a kidney shot.

Tank would stop him. His counters are precise and Russell leaves lots of openings on the inside.

I dont like that they hype this guy up to try to be a KO artist he clearly isnt he doesnt have that power just an over golrified boxing record filled with no names he should just accept all fightts that come his way instead of taking easy fight after easy fight to build his KO record I would even fancy Rolly romero to KO this guy
