He is correct. We've had all these weapons in our militaries for just such a war as this, and when it came, what happened, we sat on our hands for a time, almost in a state of denial that this is the war we were supposedly prepared for, then slowly getting off our seats to release a little bit here, a little bit there, rather like a parent holding onto the goodie bag for a bit and then giving out a few lollies here and there. We were cowed by Putin threatening us, but that is his play book. We should have learnt not to take notice of that long ago. Getting off our seats a long time ago and giving Ukraine the weapons and training it needed early on would have saved so much of the lives lost and destruction done, and if there is one thing Putin understands and bows to it is the strength of a powerful response. Because of the way we did respond he sees us as weak. And that is not a good thing for Ukraine, or for us.

If Ukraine defeats Putin, how will the US justify military spending of more than 10 pier countries combined? China is watching and a decisive victory for Ukraine will take the air out of China's sails. Image if their only possible ally and past arms supplier was beaten by a country a 3rd its size. We'd buy ourselves at least 20 years before China got up its nerve again and by then Ukraine would be a thriving addition to NATO, Putin would be dead from old age and there's a good chance Russia would see the errors of their way and be on the road to beg an ally.

Russia defeated on battlefield. Not saying don't consider these things, but it's been nearly a year now. Things expand, complicate. Today, South Korean news reported NK going to send personnel to occupied parts of Donbas to "rebuild." (For what really?) The authoritarians aren't sitting on hands doing nothing. We have more ability in west, if only we'd use it. Putlers rhetoric has to be faced sooner or later. Won't change. Seems most likely that the West has an interest in keeping Russian forces tied down and bleeding in Ukraine, hence the less-than-speedy delivery of weapons. Every day Russia remains in Ukraine, it gets weaker. A quick defeat would only send them home with more of their stuff intact, and presumably they'd go make sure ASAP that other former SSR's don't go the way of Ukraine. So from the POV of the west, there's not a ton of upside in a speedy, decisive Ukraine victory.

@Ghost Logan I don’t hate Kasparov, he’s one of my favourite chess players of all time. Surly and a bad loser, but a genius over the board. You can twist it any way you wish, but factually he is an Azerbaijani, not a Russian.
FDR once said, "All we have to fear is fear itself". We must be prudent regarding the possible use of nukes and Putin's demise, but we must not be afraid!
Watched an interview with Fiona Hill, then Garry. Different language but same message. Fascinating, historical context and razor sharp logic. Both have their place dealing with this thug.
Clearest, most logical comment I've heard!
Kasparov is the kind of guy to lead Russia.

He ran for the Presidency, but on every stop on his campaign tour hotels and speaking halls would cancel his reservations, the media would not cover him, his staff were arrested for various infractions or were mysteriously beaten. The Kremlin hand picks the candidates to run against Putin and ensures they are not serious campaigns.

Absolutely! But a huge segment of Russia have already been spoiled by Putin to embrace criminals and villains as their leaders. It’ll be a massive challenge to flip that mindset and convince them that they’ve believed in a big lie for several generations.

Lol he is western puppet. 😅 West loves leaders who have no backbone.
Putin is ready to start a new offensive to commemorate his failed invasion of Ukraine last year. 🤣 Slava Ukraini!!! 🇺🇦 🇺🇲
Garry, as always, on point.
Yes yes yes! Totally agree Gary!
"If you fight for principals, there's nothing to negotiate". WOW
Amen - Mr.Kasparov. Now let's make sure, everybody gets THAT message.
Well said !! Absolutely AGREE !!
Strongly agreed with Mr Kasparov. Now is the moment
Agreed Ukraine should have gotten long range missiles long ago.
God bless you, Garry Kasparov!
Respect! Garry Kasparov is a true champion!
Garry, you hit it right out of the ballpark your right Sir. SLAVA UKRAINE AND THE FREE WORLD.

obama paternal grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was one of 150.000 rebellious Kikuyu “blackamoors” forced into detention camps during Churchill’s postwar premiership, when the British governnment began its brutal campaign to suppress the alleged “Mau Mau” uprising in Kenya, in order to protect the privileges of the white settler population at the expense of the indigenous people. About 11,000 Kenyans were killed and 81,000 detained during the British government’s campaign to protect its imperialist heritage.
