It's a shame not many people outside Brazil knows Garrincha. Most people think Brazil won the World Cups mainly because of Pele but no, Garrincha was the turbo engine of that team. Fabulous player with a great dribble and an explosive run n shot

Garrincha was the Midfield and Right Wing Engine for both Brazil and Botafogo.

My grandfather used to talk me about Pele and Garrincha, even if he claims that Pele was better, Garrincha is closer to his heart, I've never watched a single video about him, because I was always impressed of the way he talked about him, till now. Now, I'm sad because the time passes too fast, and I kinda miss that times.

Honorable metion: Zagallo, the only man in the world with 5 world cup finals and 4 titles 🏆, 2 as player, 1 as coach assist and 1 as coach.

The amount of skill moves he created that are still being used today is insane. He’ll never get his flowers. Probably the most underrated player of all time.

Dribbling: 99 Weak foot accuracy: 99. If it wasn't for his alcoholism, he would have been even greater

According to witnesses he said something like "what a weak tournament, its only one leg", in a more literal translation. Natalia over there translated even better.

A journalist asked to him Ina interview about worldcup 1958, after he arrived to Brazil:"- Garrincha, what did you think very very weird in Sweden?". He answered " The children of Sweden.". Journalist:"_children? But why the children?". He completed:_" The children of Sweden, everyone even the smallest can speak Swedish, a very very weird language " :)

@K C Wong are you talking about Garrincha? He was 30 years old post 1962. In 1966 he was 33 and still scored goal aganist Bulgária and was scaked by the coach in the last macht aganist Portugal while Pelé was jumping on the Field to had an excuse for his failed since he had only Jairzinho on the Field because Garrincha, Tostão and Gerson were in the bench because of the coach. And guess what? Pelé retired from the nacional team at the age of 30 years old in 1971.

Garrincha was a supreme Talent and one of if not the greatest dribbler in the history of the sport a great player and 5th on my all time list of true Greats.....

Garrincha was a truly gifted player, outstanding dribbler, and scoring beautiful goals on the world stage as well as working hard in the engine room of Brazil’s stellar World Cup teams. Pele learned a good deal from him too.

Garrincha was one of Brazil's greatest superstars and quite frankly overlooked And not only did he play alongside the greatest of all time Pele in 1958 and the early stages of 1962 he also made a name for himself when he became Brazil's savour in 1962 after Pele was forced out of the rest of the tournament due to injury

There will never be another Garrincha, unfortunately Garrincha like Maradona, didn't have a happy ending in his life after he retired from football. He had to deal with lots of addiction, which he didn't know to handle until his passing. Today, at almost 40 years of his death, his legacy will live forever in the Brazilian football and especially, in the world of football.

Garrincha: _"What are we doing here?"_ Manager: _"It's the World Cup."_ Garrincha: _"Oh, okay."_ *Goes and wins the whole thing.* And yes, that is a true story.

Love this series !

There is a claim he single handedly won the world cup for Brazil in 1962. The team wasn't so spectacular, then it lost Pele due to an injury before the first game, so Garrincha essentially carried the team to winning the cup. Another interesting fact is that he always considered the game of football as entertainment and fun, not a hard core competitive win or die thing (although either in his team Botafogo, the Barcelona of the 1950's and early 60's, and for Brazil, he usually won), and he wasn't as interested in scoring, as he was in passing the ball for another player to score. He would set up the most amazing plays, and hand the ball to another player to score. There will never be another player like Garrincha in the history of football.
