Could you ask Garrett why he always stands up to much his cards on big hands. Is he worries someone will flip his hand over? I feel for him, in downswing making all the wrong decisions. He's prob still crushing off stream.

I love Gman, he's my favorite player right now. I really appreciate U sayin that stuff about dealin wit negative thinking. I'm a smaller stakes Vegas reg & ive managed 2 curtail downswings by jus taking sum time off. Every time I take a leave after not feeling like I was playin my best I always come back clear headed wit tha past sessions in my rear view. Subscribed sir

Joe could you ask Garrett, 1. if he still loves the game as much as he did when he first started? 2. if he's ever considered doing other things for income and maybe taking a step back from the game, as in if the high stakes start taking its toll, unless he just has a massive bankroll where it doesn't phase him anymore. 3. What his advice is on bankroll management and taking shots in bigger games is, whether to be really aggressive in taking those shots, etc. 4, What percentage he thinks that the the higher stakes, partically LA Commerce 10-20 and above, pros actually make good money, good money being at least 150-200K range on a yearly basis? 5. If he's ever had a losing year. Thanks! Super looking forward to this podcast!

Just saw this video today. I really appreciate your analysis of the mental/emotional aspect of the game. My #1 Problem in poker is tilt. I’ll get a few bad beats in a session and end up punting off my stack in bad bluffs or calls. It’s so hard to quit in those positions though... Really cool to hear that pros struggle with negative thinking too. I’m going to try harder to not let emotion interfere with my game. Thanks as always Papi!!

Went through a stretch like Garrett but it was worse I was making the right calls getting people pot committed and getting drawn out on. What made it worse was that it was all happening in three days just before a world poker tour event.

Interesting spot. Pretty much the best hand to bluff with on that river blocking nut flush and nut straight.

this is real talk. i was going through this on my down swing and it was crushing me mentally. it literally drives you insane. i decided to stop playing the site i was playing, watched a little AllinPav's stream, realized a few things i was doing wrong, jumped onto ignition where the games are a little softer and theres not as much cheating and have won 4 tournies since with 3 straight weeks of winning. i know small sample but my mind set is 100% different then it was 3 weeks ago and if only i had stopped sooner and fixed the way i was thinking then my original dowswing may have not be so intense.

that first hand is a clear fold. the other dude has 7-8 nutflushes that would shove for value and maybe 4 bluffs (if he turns AhTx into bluffs, TT blocks bluffs gary might have) that would use this size. People are going to want to play with you more if you are making a funny monologue about always being wrong than if you were sitting there counting hand combos out loud

would it have helped if he would have counted out the chips to call with b4 folding? I think he had enough behind to risk calling that set. im bad at counting chips watching this make me think this would help my decision

It's not an interesting interview. It's basically just Joey not willing to accept Alec's story. They just go back and forth with it for what feels like an eternity.

Watching this happen to someone who is still one of the best high stakes cash game players in the world shows it happens to every poker player it's just how you deal with it.

The first hand is a very good fold in my opinion if we are not being results oriented. The fact that it was a three way pot makes more unlikely for him to bluff. Also have to note that alec did call the flop and folded the turn which mean he could have a lot of jack x hands which will play that way . That makes more unlikely for gary to have a jack x hands which will be his primary bluff . And gary happens to hold both the blockers the ace of hearts and a jack which is perfect position for him to bluff this.

The first bluff is amazing, he rep a lot of hands.. It's hard to make a good decision.. But the second in my opinion, when opponent check the river, you got to choose check back or bet call depends of the raise size.. 30 in a 102 pot is call for me.

But, KK doesn't block AA. AA is snap call for me too for 3.3 to 1 but, KK I would contemplate.

Although I was too tilted for any sort of rational thought by this point in the session and have never done anything like that in a poker hand in my life prior, there's no excuse that makes it okay. That combined with my aggressive whining in this hand, it’s just a bad look. I expect better of myself as someone who works hard to try to make the poker table a fun, parasite-free environment for all. For the keyboard warriors who are still deeply offended, Art texted me saying: “I don’t believe for one second you were intentionally trying to angle me.”

You don't have to answer these questions and it's much appreciated. Good luck on your downswing and I hope you're back to crushing it as normal. It's exciting to see you play since a lot of your play is progressive and agile to the situations.

Yeah but checking ensures you ensures you the pot. It goes both ways. Instead of going for that thin value and getting bluffed off your hand you can win many pots that you will otherwise have to fold due to going too thin against capable players

He plays so lag that I think he’s gotta make these big calls. It’s like he’s playing the lag role and then folding monsters. So he’s secretly a nit that shows up on big river decisions

Ur forgetting that Art is also a poker pro and he could easily make this play with the absolute nuts because he puts Garret on a big hand like KK or AA, and that he cant fold

Question for G.A. 1) if he has a loose image that’s he’s cultivated why doesn’t he tighten up and he’ll still get the action

I dont think there is an issue w him voicing his thoughts there and I disagree that this is what happens when we are in a downswing. I think if his downswing was playing a roll in the decision he would've called which wouldve been a mistaken here even if he had the best hand. If you just consider the ranges here btn just doesn't have enough bluffs to justify calling with a set. When he rips river for 2x pot he is saying his only value hand is the nut flush and his bluffs contain the blocker obviously. When you think a lil more about it btn really doesn't have many off suit A's just AJ maybe a small % of his AKo combos.

I think the fold on the river is correct on the 2nd ✋. Bottom of your river value range, and villain can have a million credible hands that beat you.

gman after watching him play is one of my favorite players but I think he's kinda falling off as of Recently although iv only see him play at live at the bike if heard he's lost some really big pots maybe that's why he folded the best hand here

Justin Hart what you're not understanding is that these hand examples of gman folding best hands are the outcome of the runbad not the run bad. Hes folding better hands here cause he's talking himself into results oriented runbad situations, in which the first thought is "oh of course I'm beat here" "I wanted to check so bad, why didn't I just check, I don't know" etc...

Get @dougpolkpoker to review this hand

IMO Garrett makes a couple mistakes in the KK hand (Last Hand) My biggest question is why not just check back KK on river ? I mean are you really gonna be mad at yourself if you decide to check back river and Art has JJ or A10 and you think you missed value ? Its a clear Check back and scoop pot

I think Garret should be checking KKs more often and betting AAs more often. I don’t think he gets value from an Ah in that spot most Ah on this board have at least a pair. So when you have KKs and bet your opponent is way more likely to have AQ. You can say oh wait a minute he can also have KQ yes that is true however Art would fold KQo preflop but wouldn’t fold AQo which means blocking AQ here is way more important than blocking KQ or Ah. This makes AA a better value bet and a better bluff catcher. The best combo of AAs to bet and call a raise is the one that doesn’t block the suited combos of AT. Also I don’t think the AK is the best bluff by Art it was just in the moment I think AJss is a better bluff than AKo because the hands you want Garret to fold are KK and AA with AJ you block some AQs and at the same time don’t block KK. Where with AK you block KQ and AQ which really doesn’t matter because his raise is so small you need to block thin value bets rather than full houses.

Why would he bet that much with his value range when in reality if he makes flush he'd bet a reasonable amount that he actually extracts value from worse hands but I don't think he'll actually overbet cause he's folding too much of the hands that he beats that he can extract value you from.

ScuffedComedy because if Garrett calls he wins more money, if he had the flush. He can balance his flush overbets with bluffs like he has. Garrett has been known to pay those off as well so it looks like a flush tbh

Oh that’s BecuAse he’s bluffing And agreed there’s no way garret has a flush going bet bet getting there then checking and plus Gary has ace hearts so he would know not only that garrettt doesn’t have a flush but whatever he has wouldn’t be able to call an all in from a value perspective.

Its not called a downswing its called being exploited and outplayed by better players !! I see all the praises when Garrett was running good but now hes playing against better players and playing against the same players on LATB and now he being outplayed by Gary and Art who now know his game
