As doctor passionate about skin care that delivers results and about well aging, I want to help you quickly and efficiently pick a skin care regime that works, by explaining the science behind skin and by sharing quick product reviews.
I am a big believer that creating a skincare routine that targets your specific concerns is not a matter of your budget. There are many great affordable brands out there: The Inkey List, Good Molecules, Geek & Gorgeous or pixi skincare to name a few of my favorites, and if you know how to combine them, you are well on your way to healthy and happy skin.
Healthy and happy skin does not mean "flawless" - whatever that might be. I have been struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation and postinflammatory erythema (PIH and PIE) for most of my adult life, and it took me a while to figure out that gentle is key. I went through a retinol damaged skin barrier, acne flare ups and sun damage until I finally reached my happy place: With Tretinoin, sunscreen and of course a red lipstick!

Is price and availability important to you when it comes to sunscreens?

Yes. Whenever I can I try to use a large bottle body sunscreen for the face. And it works (Nivea, Garnier). The larger the bottle, the better it is.

@@MatMat-qi2rd Surely better value for money. Do you find these sunscreens irritate your eyes more easily?

I use this and I think it's a very good sunscreen, although it's fragranced. 😊 it's not totally matte / invisible but it works both as a moisturizer and a sunscreen to me 👌

Agree, I don't need a separate moisturizer with it either.

I mainly use drugstore ones for the body, i don't care if they are as cosmetically elegant as the ones for the face. Garnier has some nice ones.

I have just tried La Roche Posay UVMUNE 400 oil control gel-cream and honestly, probably prefer it to the fluid. I hated the old “anti-shine” version, so I held off on trying it but this is much improved. No homosalate, which irritates my skin and it doesn’t leave a tacky, yellowish layer. It is almost like a dupe of Eucerin’s oil control SPF. They are exactly the same price but I say that because Eucerin’s has been around for longer

Thank you, I will look into it. I don't think I have seen it at my local pharmacy yet, is it a new release?

@@DoctorAnne I believe it was released over a year ago. Early 2023. It replaces the Anthelios XL Anti-Shine with the green stripe I find the oil-control fluid version irritating and highly perfumed, so I do not like that edition.

That depends. For light coverage I like the L'Oréal one I reviewed a while a go, for heavier coverage I am using Lancome at the moment.
