Garmont DRAGONTAIL Review The Best Approach Shoes!

Garmont Dragontail Review
After over 1 years hard use, I have to say Garmont's DRAGONTAIL Approach shoes have not let me down. Tough leather and rubber construction sporting an excellent VIBRAM sole with a great grippy tread pattern, the Dragontail is an approach shoe you can feel comfortable in walking over rough terrain giving you a secure feeling from the sole and the lacing pattern.
The lacing system of the Garmont Dragontail is also well thought out and the tongue is of bellows construction, so this is great at preventing small stones and sticks getting right into the shoes.. The Garmont Dragontail comes in various colors if you're not up to the zombie green of mine and there is also a gortex model although I simply spray mine once in a whole with silicone water repellent and they are good to go.
Totally recommend them for people serious about their outdoor footwear!
The Garmont Dragontail can also be seen here:

Those of you who are climbers and are not wearing the the Dragontail, I'd definitely recommend you take a look at this model.

They are indeed. Plus they come in various different colours (other than this Mint green). The VIBRAM sole rocks too for grip. Thanks for watching.

Glad to hear, mine get a real flogging! I love them too and only wish they were "wearing out" even a bit so I could justify buying another pair LOL! I also own a pair of Garmont VETTA MNT's, which I also love and wear all the time!

Hi, I'm just wiping them, most of the time they just get dusty and not so much covered mud but the construction has been well thought out as approach shoes go and that's what I like and as u say they are not too heavy for fast trips into the mountains. BTW I also very much like La Sportiva and have been a big user of their shoes and boots for many years and I also have a pair of Kayland mountaineering boots (crampon compatible). Which I love too.

look's a good strong shoe , I've noticed for a while that more and more people are starting to use approach shoe's instead of boots it could also be a weight issue shoe's are much lighter than big heavy boots, nowadays it's all about weight for all kit ,I remember back in the day my kit canvas rucksack hobnail boot's now that was heavy when wet happy day's

Hi yeah, I've got mountaineering boots (not plastic boots but still very rigid for crampons- actually sitting beside me now LOL. I'll need to gain some altitude to use them right now LOL. But seriously, i guess being a climber from way back I was always wearing them and then they just progressed to a lot of outdoor use even if not hiking to a crag. The only drawbacks can be waterproofness (but there is a Gortex model of the Dragontail). They (approach shoes) are generally cheaper than good lightweight boots too. But yeah carrying less weight on the feet makes a huge difference. Hobnail boots mate, well I've only seen em once when I was a teenager. This shoe is def strongly constructed. I haven't seen it for sale though in the UK though.

Maybe? LOL, never ever had bad blisters with mine even when straight out of the box on a day hike. I've still got mine although the inners on the sides are getting pretty worn.
