    As usual Max you have been very very helpful. I am an old school bass fisherman that use to beleive all I needed was 2d sonar to help me catch more bass. Well I actually had to take a few years off from fishing and I am now full bore back into it. With your tutorals I have now entered the 21st century and am not only enjoying being able to see more it now is much more challenging going fishing. THANK YOU and keep up the good work. Thanks for the detailed video. Very Nice! Learned a lot. Just got a Echomap 93SV and installed it. Our lake is a reservoir that fluctuates yearly with water level depending on snow melt and irrigation. Last I heard it was at 18% capacity... but it is a large lake with approximately 36,000 acres so mapping the entire lake isn't feasible, especially with the changes in water level. Any suggestions on the best way to use the quickdraw on a lake like this? Would you just start over each visit? how does the Garmin handle the changes in depth? Thanks... appreciate you.

    Great video. Here's a tip for you or anyone else trying to record your screen. Depending on the screen refresh rate and your fps of your camera you will get that rolling effect in your video. There's no perfect answer BUT try several different frame rates on your camera 24-60 fps and you can usually find a setting that will eliminate or minimize the flicker. Have a great day and be safe out there!

    Thank you very much for taking the time to make the tutorial video. Perhaps you already know or someone else might know a couple of answers I need. 1.)When you use community edits they are stored on your SD card and only 1 file at a time>> is that correct? 2.) Now, since you can only have 1 file why not select a huge area rather than little selections since the files are relatively small>> my entire lake is only 2 meg for the file and its a 250 mile of shoreline lake. 3.) Now, my big question, since community contours come from individuals, the time that they make the survey will change and lake levels may also drastically change. The question is if someone scanned when the water was 10 ft high on the lake and someone else scanned when it was 5 ft low will this effect the representation on my map display? 4.) Could I possibly be updating my map with incorrect lake level depths because of this timing and lake level at scan time? Thanks for your help on these possible issues in advance

    What is the impact on the quick draw contours when one re-records over an area, but the water level is , say 2’ “different “ , or always different by let’s say up 3-5’?? ( I am on a lake that is a “pump back” power generation lake and the water level literally varies by the day (even hour)…..AND I cannot remember what level was when the previous recording was made.) Per your recommendation, one benefits by recording the area from multiple passes at different angles. Incidentally, an EXCELLENT video, especially explaining what each of the setting do, which can be a puzzle.Thank you!

What’s the best way to adjust for depth when rcording??? Take an average for above or below and apply e.g. mid incomoing, use -1’...or if slack low iight in the middle of the time you’re recording, use +2’?......if that makes sense. Thanks Mike

    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzread.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

  • @mrwhipper21
    @mrwhipper212 жыл бұрын

    Couple questions, I take it everything saves to the card and not to the unit so you have to have a separate card for each lake you are mapping, correct? How wide of a path does it record? The lake I am creating has a deep creek channel say 15 to 20 feet and immediately once you leave the channel it can jump up to weed covered flats from 2 to 10 ft deep. Does it only record the depth right below the boat or does side imaging come into play?

  • @MGMarineTech

    @MGMarineTech

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi there. Good questions. 1 you do not need to have a different card for each map, but you can organize them that way if you would like. 2. As far how much of a area it records, I’m not 100% sure on that. I don’t believe it will be able to record a wider area when using side imaging. I believe it just uses the depth directly under the boat, but as far as how big that area is I can’t say exactly but from the looks of it, it looks as though it records about a 10’ wide path give or take. I find it’s best to cross cross your tracks to make the maps as accurate as possible.

    I am from Quebec Canada.The species we fish is the speckled trout, the characteristic of this one is that it is held in less than 30 feet.The main technique to catch it is by trolling with a spoon followed by a hook with a worm. Of course it is quite rare with my Humminbird Mega Live G2N Si to distinguish these specimens even with the traditional sounder because as soon as one approaches them the shadow of the boat makes them flee immediately.In these circumstances if I acquire a Garmin GPSMAP 1222 with Panoptix Livescope System Touchscreen Chartplotter an investment of 4310 $ Canadian that can give me a certain advantage in the capture of this trout

    I run mine every day as well no issues at all. It will just save them as one contour not separate days. As far as how much you can store on a card, well the obvious answer is that depends on the cards, the max size card you can use is a 32gb card. @@MGMarineTech well thanks for the reply. I may call Garmin the next time I’m on the water. I did call them once before for another issue I had. They were pretty helpful. I had a memory card that was “too new” so I found an older card that works much better. I also had a setting turned on that didn’t allow me to see my depth shading and they also helped me with that.

    Hi! Is it correct that in this machine you can put any SD card and start recording? When i watched about hummingbird you have to buy a special SD card if you want to record more than 8h. The SD card cost about 80-90 dollar 🤨 I will go with Garmin if that's the case. Tired when manufacturer doing that kind of joke 😤

    What i dont like is that you have to manage youre own colors and select a color per depth, humminbird is more intuitive on that part with autochart live

  • @masomaf

    @masomaf

    @@MGMarineTech Jep humminbird has more color pallets with a certain gradient from one color to another, bit rainbow like. But the thing is you set only set which pallet and the minumum and maximum depth. For example you choose the color pallet were red is shallow and dark blue is deep. Then you choose which range it should cover. For example 0-30 feet, then everything 30 feet and deeper wil go dark blue, so if there is any point at the lake were its 40 feet, it will have the same dark blue color as 30 feet.Therefore the advice is to set the chart in the max dept range you would expect on the lake, however for detail on the shallow its better to go downwards in max range. The colors automatically adapt with the range you choose. For garmin each individual color has a low and high range. And you have to put it in manually for each color: lots of work.. When you fishing multiple lakes with variating max depths...then you have to program for each lake if you want to go for detail.

    There isn’t a easy way to do it… You could bring up the area you want to print and take a screen shot on the device (I made a video that shows you how, but it’s very simple just hold the home button for like 5 seconds) You can then take that as card out and pop it into a computer and then print that picture of the maps. Hopefully that makes sense

    Active captain sucks, community charts do not show the waterway you are on, only areas that were charted, so it's very difficult to find a location. Also I used it on Lake Rouseau in Inglis, FL. It is totally inaccurate, this lake is very shallow with lots of stumps. The chart shows much deeper than reality. Totally useless and dangerous.
