Garmin Quickfit Security Watch Pin Removal Tips & Tricks

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In literal terms, no special tool is required, and all you need is a utility knife and the bottom part of your original Garmin silicon watch strap to create tension.
For old-style Fenix with screwed-on watch pins, you'll need this screwdriver kit then: amzn.to/3qt8VAr
Utility knife: amzn.to/3qQ5UK7
Garmin Epix 2: amzn.to/46i5mNn
Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2: amzn.to/3poIZoQ
This is the exact strap I'm using: bit.ly/42Zqx3Q
Cheers!

Why do you need to remove the pins? The bands have a quick release and they come right off without removing the pins?

Some folks want to use aftermarket/traditional watch straps, which are not compatible with existing thick pins.

Some models of the Fenix 7s don’t have springs in the metal rod so you must break it

Are you sure? then how did they put it inside in the first place? The spring on the Garmin original pin is quite thick, making them look like they are not springs, that maybe the case.

You'll need a standard watch pin removal tool to remove the standard watch pin, then you can pop original pin back in there since its spring loaded.

Great video. I bought an alternative strap too....but my point is: after replace the strap, if I want to remove again, WITH the strap on, the job will be more harder.... You remove the pin again, after this video, WITH the new strap ??

  • @TheGizmoGarage

The new pins (standard watch pins) can be easily popped out by using a knife and pry on the bump near the edge. If you get straps with quick release pins, then no tools are required.

How well do standard watch pins fit as opposed to the original?

  • @TheGizmoGarage

Construction of standard pin is definitely thinner, but it does allow for other kind of straps to be attached.

@@ljot1 I was initially, but know that many other smart watch straps uses the standard, thinner watch pin. I actually tried to pull the standard pin that I replaced out and was not able to easily, so far it has been reliable but I'd keep an eye on the condition of the pin. If it starts to bend, then definitely take it out and replace with original.

I finally got the pins removed but it was very difficult, even following your instructions. Nonetheless I think your method helped. Thank you. I really had to work hard to get a knife in there. I tried a special watch tool designed to remove spring bars and that didn't work. Needed a knife. But then it was a little bit dangerous. You have to be really careful not to cut yourself if it slips out.

The screwed on pins are even easier to remove in my opinion. Sadly you have to spend a bit extra on the screw driver if you don't already have it in your tool box. amzn.to/3qt8VAr
