Garmin Index is available at Amazon: amzn.to/3Qn6lVh
I have used multiple blood pressure devices over the years from Omron, Nokia, Withings and now Garmin. This Garmin device is different to all the others for two clear reasons which I explain in this video.
My Withings is out of date now but the current version is here: amzn.to/3SirUJq

Thanks. I was considering this device when I came across your video. I bought it despite your struggle with the cuff because I love the compact size for travel and the integration with Garmin Connect.

Glad it helped. Two months on and I have got used to the cuff, it’s no longer the struggle to use that it was at first.

Nice Garmin toy. One more. 🙂 I use a Omron M2 bloodpresure monitor from time to time. Everytime a measurement is done, I just save the data in my Garmin Connect. It's possible to add the data manually in the Garmin Connect and track it there. 🙂

That's what I'm doing right now, since I cannot buy this in my country right now. So glad that there's an option to manually store the blood pressure.

from a performance and not medical standpoint (healthy runner in mid 40s) are there any benefits for training or recovery that tracking blood pressure regularly offers? I track everything with my garmin devices (activities, sleep, HRV, weight) but am not sure if adding blood preasure makes sense to me.

I track it for health rather than fitness, I have never taking a BP reading as part of any IM training.

@@ThisIsJulianC me too. so from my understanding if I don't suffer from high BP there is no reason to monitor it more often than ones a month or so (and maybe add the values manually into GC to see long term developments). But still nice video.

@@fidru Yes I'd agree with that. If I didn't have elevated BP I would not be monitoring as regularly as I do.

With these extra BP data, is Garmin Connect able to generate additional information with it? E.g. in Garmin Connect, no HR and sleep data = no recovery time. Is there an equivalent with BP data? Many thanks!

I do not believe the BP readings are used by Garmin Connect for any analysis, it’s just a way to keep track of your health data along with all your other health data if you use Garmin devices.

I would suggest Aktiia which provides 24/365 continuous blood pressure monitoring

Thanks... not familiar with that one. I have used 24/7 monitoring before but it was a very complex and involved set up.

Once you get the loop set in the right spot, leave it. You should be able to slip it off of your arm after taking the measurement

Thanks for doing this review. Use your chin to hold the cuff in place.

Thanks for the tip! I have found I can pull the cuff tight enough while still slipping it over my wrist, then it stays in place while I tighten it on my upper arm. Use it daily so got used to it.

Ha ha go to a doctor to test your BP. I visited my doctor recently and he’s using a beat up Omron that is the same model as I have at home and was purchased about 14 years ago

Thumbs down for not showing how it is used. But you wear the Withings which is weird
